Weekly Update
September 6, 2024
From the Principal
Dear Aquin Families,
Welcome to September! Today was our picture day and a dress up day, so we will not have another dress up day in September.
This week we started with one of our emergency drills (fire drill) and we did really well. We have also discussed a "shelter-in-place" drill which would be the equivalent of an active shooter drill (but we never use that terminology with the kids). We will do an actual drill next week. Sadly, it seems that this is still a much-needed drill in today's world. We send our prayers to all the families affected this week in Georgia.
Next week there will be a Scouting meeting for those students and families interested in joining the Scouts of America. Fliers will also be coming home with the parent meeting information. We have some families that do participate in these great programs and hope you will consider it for your K-8 child.
On Wednesday, September 11, we will be doing a Jeans Day for an Aquin alumni family. There is a flier that was sent home with the information. This is NOT a jeans day that is included in the monthly payment that we did this week. This is a separate fundraiser that will go specifically to the family through our Legacy Servant Leaders. The Servant Leadership program runs through Highland Community College and our former high school students had already been selected for this program when the decision was made to close grades 9-12. Thankfully HCC is allowing them to continue as a legacy group and Mr. & Mrs. Heimerdinger agreed to continue with them as mentors. We hope that you will consider participating this Wednesday.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Heitkamp

Grades for Students in Grades 3-8
As your child's teacher enters grades into FACTS, they become available for you to review in the family portal. This is a good way for you and your child to review their work, grades and any potential missing assignments. If you have trouble getting into the family portal, please let us know in the office.
