SCE Principal/Weekly Blast
May 17, 2024
Principal Note
May 17, 2024
Dear SCE Families,
It was another exciting day for Sand Creek! Field day is always a fan favorite! Thank you to Mr. Bolser for all his hard work with organizing this special event for our kiddos!
As we look into next year, we have some staff updates to share with you. We will be making a few changes to teacher placements. Mrs. Coldwell will be moving to 4th grade next year as Mr. Lopez has recently accepted a teacher position in a school closer to home. Please join me in wishing Mr. Lopez all the best in his new position. Due to this change, we have posted a third grade teacher position and hope to conduct interviews in the upcoming weeks.
Additionally, we have added some positions to our current Special Education team for next year: a part-time Mild/Moderate Teacher, a part-time Speech and Language Pathologist, and full-time Educational Assistant IV positions. We are pleased to share we have hired Mrs. Lindsey McDowell as our part-time Speech and Language Pathologist for next year. We are still seeking people to fulfill our Mild/Moderate Teacher and Educational Assistant IV roles.
Finally, we have recently learned that our SRO Deputy Buss has decided to accept a position at a K-12 private school as their SRO for the upcoming school year. We have a new SRO assigned to our school named Deputy Ben Espinoza. He will be the SRO for Northridge, Bear Canyon, and Sand Creek next year. He has already started to build relationships at our school to get to know our students and systems at SCE. Please wish Deputy Buss all the best in his new position with the Sheriff's Department.
Our last day of school will be on Thursday, May 23rd. On that day, 6th grade Promotion will start at 9:30 AM and our Kindergarten Celebration will start at 1:00 PM. Parents will be able to access student progress reports (EPRs) on Saturday, May 25th at 9:00 AM. Please click HERE to learn more and get directions for how to access your student’s EPR.
Proud to be an Eagle!

Garden Club
The purpose of the Garden Club is to provide opportunities for service, education, and teamwork; stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; and enhance the community within and around the school. We will be working in the garden area between the two playgrounds. There will be some winter prep before the spring planting as well as education sessions. We will also be helping the grade levels with their raised beds and maintenance needs.
It may be cold outside but we have a garden to prepare (we will be inside if it is too cold outside). The dates and proposed activities are listed below. If you know any students who want to join, they can sign up via MySchoolBucks. Parents are welcome to join us to support our little gardeners.
We meet 4-5pm in the garden or in the library as weather backup. We have a little snack period at the beginning if you want to send an extra snack with your student.
