Dear Middle School Families,

I hope this message finds you enjoying a wonderful summer break. As we approach the start of the new school year, I wanted to take a moment to extend a warm welcome to all our students and families, both new and returning. The first day of school Wednesday, August 28th. We are excited to share some important information to ensure a smooth and successful start.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and taking some time to relax. This year, I will be back in my role as Assistant Principal for the middle and high schools after spending some time as the Interim Middle School Principal last year. We are so happy to welcome Jessica Mixner as our new middle and high school Director of School Counseling!! Ms. Mixner completed her internship from Providence College in the Spring while she interned here with Mr. Casey. We are very excited that she is here to lead our school counseling department and we know great things are coming!

August 26th - 6th Grade Chromebook Distribution and Locker Night (See below for more info)

August 28th - First Day of School for Students

September 2nd - No School (Labor Day)

September 10th - No School (State Primary Day)

Student schedules will be available on PowerSchool two weeks before the start of school.

• As in the past, student schedules will be available to view and print on PowerSchool. Students and families that may have lost their username and password or are new to Scituate Middle School should email powerschool@scituateschoolsri.net.

• Students are encouraged to print or save their schedule so they are prepared for the start of school on Wednesday, August 28th at 7:45 AM.

  
  

Incoming sixth graders are invited to join us on Monday, August 26th to swap out their old Chromebook for a new one and receive their locker assignment. They can bring their school supplies to store in the lockers and get some practice using their combination lock. We've found students do well with a standard combination lock or the one with a 4-digit code that you can set to their lunch code. Linked HERE is an example. Our sixth grade team leader, Ms. McCarthy, will also be joining us to answer any questions. To cutdown on the influx of students arriving at once, please arrive at the time according to the information below.

2024 Fall Athletic Registration

In order to participate, ALL students MUST have a current physical, MUST be registered, and MUST be in good academic standing from the 4th quarter of this past school year.

• Physicals can be from your child’s pediatrician, OR University Orthopedics is offering free Pre-Participation exams on August 3rd (https://universityorthopedics.com/freeexams/) or Ortho RI August 13th (https://www.orthopedicsri.com/news-items/exams-2024/) OR Scituate Middle School/ Well One will be offering free Physicals on August 6th (see forms below) NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!

• All students moving up to 6th grade are eligible. All returning students must have passed with a GPA greater than 1.7 or failed fewer than 2 courses.
