Monday Memo December 16th

Hello, King's Highway Families!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the winter concert this evening. The show will begin at 7:00. Below are a few photos from today's performance for students. Thank you, Ms. Poyer and the KH choir, for all your hard work putting the show together. While you are here, take a minute to check out all of the amazing artwork students completed with the guidance of art teacher Mr. Grannells. The drawings and designs are up in the hallway to showcase some talented young learners. Prior to the concert, the Title-1 parent committee will meet at 6:00 to plan out events in the new year; join us for some pizza and planning.

Last week's email listed the incorrect month for PTO Fun day/movie.

The King's Highway PTO is sponsoring a winter move fun day for students on Wednesday, DECEMBER 18th. We will be watching Abominable and enjoying some movie-time snacks. Abominable is rated PG - any parent/guardian that would like their student to not participate in the move should email me: grahamr@casdschools.org. Thank you to the PTO for you continued support.

During the fall competitive season of the elementary Stock Market Game, a team of King's Highway fourth graders claimed third place in the entire state of Pennsylvania! Known as the Megalodons, the team of Taranjeet, Johnny, and Jaxson competed in a simulation against teams from around the region and the state under the guidance of their advisor, Miss Kaptur. After learning about key concepts in finance and investing, these young men developed and managed an investment portfolio of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds that outperformed the market by nearly 5%, earning almost $12,000 over just 10 weeks. Additionally, all 6 CASD elementary teams that competed in the fall session placed within the top 12 in the Eastern Pennsylvania region. Beyond their success in the competition, these students gained a major head start with practical knowledge that will help them manage their finances wisely over the course of their lives. Keep up the great work!
