The Week of September 30th
Girls Who Code
Case Western Reserve University's Girls Who Code focuses on bridging the gender gap in technology. They hold weekly sessions in which they teach fundamental computer science concepts to high school students in the Cleveland area who identify as female or non-binary. Sunday Arduino sessions run all semester and are a great way for students to learn about circuits, coding, and overall engineering practice. It's an amazing way for girls to be supported in learning skills that will help them find jobs and succeed throughout their lives!
They currently have open spots in the Sunday Arduino sessions, starting next Sunday, September 29th at 11 am, and are looking for more students to join their program!

Added Safety Measures
Dear, CECHS students and families,
VERY IMPORTANT! As an extra safety measure, alarm bars have been installed on all exterior doors on the John Hay Campus. From 7:30am until 2:59pm, students can enter and exit ONLY via Stokes Blvd. At dismissal, all main stairwell doors will be unarmed (PNC and Carnegie doors), allowing students to exit the building as they normally do. Please note that ALL custodial drive doors will ALWAYS be off limits, and should never be used, unless there is an actual emergency, of course.
In addition, with a firm starting date of October 21st, John Hay Early College will not allow parents/visitors in the building without and ID. This is a district policy that we plan to uphold. We recognize that this may cause some frustration because of past practice, so we wanted to provide a few weeks for parents to get into this new routine.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Starr
