St. Viator Parish School

Jesus said, "Come to Me" and our students listened! Our 2nd grade children were so excited and so prepared to receive their First Communion on Saturday, May 4th.

Thank you, Mrs. Blank and Mrs. Vena for your dedication and service in forming these children in faith. You teach by word and example and may these little ones continue to grow in wisdom, understanding, and grace.

Second grade students had a blast celebrating their First Holy Communion with a trip to Springs Preserve last Monday. It was perfect weather and a beautiful day to be outside. The classes got to learn about the Wild West in Boom Town, water conservation in Water Works, and explored the history, native plants & animals of our state in the Origen Museum. It was a great field trip to affirm what we have learned this year in Science. ~Mrs. Jessica Blank

This week's prayer and flag acknowledged our outgoing National Junior Honor Society members and saw the induction of our new NJHS members for the 2024-2025 school year. Congratulations to all of our students for their year of service or their recent induction!

First Grade had a fabulous time on Wednesday at the Discovery Museum! We discovered so many things; how to use money in exchange for groceries, how to perform for an audience in theatre, how to be an artist, how to design a car, how to work as a doctor, mechanic, banker, athlete and so much more! We can’t decide which was our favorite part; getting wet in the Water Activities or the bus ride! We are so grateful to all of the parent helpers who came with us and allowed us to have such a great class trip! ~Mrs. Manfredi

Thank you to our PTO and Teacher Appreciation Committee Chair, Catherine Fitzpatrick, for coordinating a week of exciting treats for all faculty and staff. Each day there was a fully stocked fridge with drinks for the staff and over the last week we had Lazy Dog sandwiches by Escobar Family, pasta and salad, taco bar, salad bar, Earl of Sandwiches lunch by Singh Family, Einstein bagels and a generous Amazon gift card. Thank you also to all our students and parents for their letters, cards of love, gratitude and generosity. Thank you from the entire faculty and staff!

Dr. Kiss and Mr. Mertzman are involved in all discussions about classroom placement with teachers. We anticipate using the following info to determine student placement: class dynamic, student academic and behavioral need, student/teacher compatibility, student/student compatibility, groupings for pull-out intervention, Micah presence.

Parents please know that teachers do not split classes, this is an administrative decision and that there is not a way to request a certain class or teacher for the next year. Please email Dr. Kiss and Mr. Mertzman with any questions or concerns.

As we wind down the school year, all fees should have been paid including Scrip or the Scrip Buyout. The final tuition payment was due on April 15th. Registrations are now open to the public. Please be sure you have reregistered your child(ren). If you have any questions, please contact Renee Alex at ralex@stviator.org.

We have noticed students being dropped off and left unattended prior to 7:35. If students arrive to school before 7:30am, students need to utilize Morning Care. Any student found outside unattended will be checked into Morning Care and charged accordingly.

Parents and students we need your cooperation as we remind families to walk safely as they exit the school. There is to be no running down the sidewalk or along the dirt. Parents please make your children walk with you and do not let them run. Our goal is to keep all of our students safe!

The Staff Parking Lot off Eastern Ave is assigned for staff parking, assigned foundation parking, handicapped parking, and school visitor parking only!! This lot is not for student drop off and/or pick up. Parents and Visitors are STILL parking in Foundation Spots. We have resorted to placing cones in those spots to keep these spaces reserved for the intended families. The Foundation spaces are purchased annually and no one else is able to park in these spaces for any reason. This includes: dropping off a student, dropping off a lunch, picking up a sick student from the office, or any other reason.

This lot is not for student drop off and/or pick up. Please do not use this lot because it is closer, or that you do not want to use the loop, or that you do not want to use the church lot. We have had numerous traffic jams due to people using this lot when they should not be. We are also receiving complaints from those individuals who are authorized to use those spots as well as delivery drivers who are authorized to use the loading zone.

The most significant criteria to qualify for the Viator Parish rate is regular attendance at Sunday Mass using your envelopes.

In order to qualify for the Viator rate you MUST:

1. Attend a minimum of 26 masses (Saturday or Sunday)
2. Use the envelopes sent to you from the church
3. Forgot your envelope? Remember your parish number and use a blank envelope provided at mass.

DO NOT

1. Mail in your envelopes to St. Viator church. These will not be counted.
2. Drop off your envelope in the church on a school mass day.
3. Forgetting the envelope and telling the church or school you went.

Tuition review will happen end of November and you should have 13 or more masses by this time. All rates will be reviewed and possibly adjusted after the assessment. If your rate is adjusted it will be reflected on the December statement. Please DO NOT call or email the school office or church office to ask if changes are being made until after the receipt of your statement.

Remember, parents are a model of faith for their children and when families join us on a regular basis they are showing their children the priority faith and church has in their lives.
