A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
This is the last week of the first semester. Monday is a regular day and Tuesday kicks off the first of our final exams. See the final week bell schedule below. Don't let off the pedal just yet, there is still work to be done before we get out at 12:15 on Friday! This will be the last GRHS Longhorn News until January, as I too will be stepping away to spend a MOMENT creating MEMORIES with my own family during this winter break. You are still welcome to email, but I will have limited access to email, as we will be out of state. I will get back with you on Tuesday January 3rd, when our staff is back. Our Longhorns come back the following day, Wednesday, January 4th. I hope your family has a chance to rest, relax, and recharge over the break too, you all have earned it too!
PTO (along with the help of our amazing parents) is wanting to provide a dessert bar for our staff luncheon on the last Friday, December 16th. Desserts can be dropped off in the front office on Thursday (Dec 15th) or anytime before 10:00AM on Friday the 16th! Semester Class Leveling Ongoing and Advanced Academics Level Drops:
You might have noticed that second semester schedules are fluctuating in Skyward as our counselors are working hard to BALANCE out "heavy" class sizes to the best of their ability. We will work hard to try and keep this to a minimum, but please know that this is a necessary thing to ensure that there is plenty of space (seats) in the classrooms for all our Longhorns. We try to keep this "unpopular" task to just be at the semester mark, but it is still necessary nonetheless. Thanks for your understanding and make sure and check Skyward prior to arriving to school on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. (Tuesday, January 3rd, in the evening is the BEST time).
Any student who would like to request an advanced academic level change for the 2nd semester will need to turn in the level drop form to counselor office by Friday, Dec 16th at 12:15PM. (see form attached)
MAKE UPS FOR FINAL EXAMS:
If you are absent during your final exam, you must get with your teacher on the make-up date (which will be AFTER school ONLY) during the week of January 4th-6th. If you fail to do this, it will be recorded as a zero in the gradebook. It is YOUR responsibility, so do not delay.
If you have ANY REMAINING OUTSTANDING FINES (for the extra IDs or library books) they need to be cleared Monday or you will NOT be eligible for semester exemptions starting Tuesday. The updated fine list is printed by student ID and posted on the library and cafe windows. Please stop by the library from 8:00am-8:15am or during lunches to clear your name off the list so that you will be eligible for your exemptions! There have been emails going out and phone calls being made. It is your responsibility to get this taken care of. Please bring cash to the library and Mrs. Rubin will give you a receipt showing you are clear. Thanks to everyone that has already taken care of this!
Weekly ID Reminder:
ID's MANDATORY! $5 replacement charges in place now. The first free ID (lanyard and protective case) have all been passed out. This MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I have been announcing this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you do not have one, this is on you. You have had MANY opportunities to correct this, so now it's your turn to be responsible. Please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classroom, or hanging in the front of the school to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly a safety measure.
