Lockport CARES

We are thrilled to announce that for Catholic Schools Week this year, our service project will be supporting Lockport CARES! 🙌

Lockport CARES is Eastern Niagara's only emergency homeless shelter, offering crucial services to those in need right here in our community. 🏠

As a school, we will come together to make a difference by hosting a few $1 Dress Down Days and a CSW Service Project to support this wonderful cause. Every little bit counts, and together we can make a big impact! 💙

Tell Your Friends About DeSales

Our Annual Open House for new or prospective families will be held on Sunday, January 26th from Noon until 2:00pm here at DeSales. If you know someone who may be interested in DeSales, please invite them to attend this Open House.

Our best marketing is YOU! Please help us spread the word.

Families who refer a new student entering Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible for a $500 referral bonus! This bonus is given as a tuition credit 6 months after the new family begins paying tuition.

Volunteers Needed

We need a number of volunteers to help make our Annual Open House a success. Parents, Grandparents, Alumni, Students (grades 5 & up) are invited to help us give tours to prospective families. If you can help, please consider signing up using the link below. Thank you in advance!

Re-Registration 25-26 Begins Friday!

Re-registration for current DeSales families will open on January 17th. For the convenience of our families, we will be using a one-step Registration Confirmation again this year. On January 17th you will receive an email inviting you to confirm your child's registration for Fall 2025. This re-registration is how you will secure your students spot for the 2025-2026 school-year.

Preschool & Kindergarten for 25-26 Survey

We anticipate a very busy year in admissions. We want to ensure our current families (you!) secure the spots they want for the upcoming school-year in preschool & kindergarten. Please take a moment and indicate your classroom preference for the Fall 2025 by completing this quick form. We will reserve spots in these classrooms based on your responses. Please respond as soon as possible.

** You will be asked to formally register to secure your child's spot via email on January 17th.

Referral Cards Coming Home

Encourage your friends, neighbors, or relatives to discover what makes our school community so special by sharing a referral card (pictured at right). By doing so, you’ll help them discover all that Catholic Education has to offer.

Please extend this invitation by giving prospective families the referral card (coming home with your students this week). New families can submit the card at an open house or tour at any one of the Diocese of Buffalo’s Catholic Elementary Schools for a chance to win $5,000 toward their first year’s tuition. It’s a personal and exciting way to welcome new families into our community and help them experience the benefits of a Catholic education.

Upcoming Dates to Note

MLK, Jr Day - No School

There is no school on Monday, January 20th in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Feast Day of St. Francis de Sales Mass

We will have a school mass on Friday, January 24th in honor of St. Francis de Sales Feast Day. Mass will begin at 9:40am, all are welcome.

Lunar New Year

There is no school on Wednesday, January 29th in honor of Lunar New Year.

Middle School Generation Celebration

We will hold our Middle School Generation Celebration Mass on Wednesday, February 12th at 9:40am. Students mailed invitations to grandparents and special senior friends this week.

Career Exploration Fair for Students

We are planning a Career Exploration Fair for our students on Thursday, January 30th at 1:30pm. We are looking for parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles or friends to represent their careers at this event. Career representatives will have spots throughout the gym while the students come and ask questions about your career.

Blizzard of Kindness

The halls at DeSales are beginning to fill up with snowflakes of kindness!

Each class who reports at least 50% of their classroom demonstrating kindness is entered to win a dress down pass.

We are excited to share Mrs. Robinson’s 2nd grade class was drawn and won the first week! Congratulations! Keep spreading the Kindness Knights!

Let’s work together to spread positivity, empathy, and generosity throughout DeSales and our community.

Week 2: January 13th - 17th - Students will be challenged to do something kind within the school community.

Week 3: January 20th - 24th - Students will be challenged to do something kind at home.

Week 4: January 27th - 31st - Students will be challenged to do something kind for the community.

Blizzard of Kindness shirt order

Our friends at Willow & Layne created a fun shirt to go with our Blizzard of Kindness! If you’d like to order one, follow the link below. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Lockport CARES. The deadline to order is tomorrow 1/16 at midnight. Shirts ordered through this link and will be delivered to DeSales (select pick up option but again we will send home with your student). So please include your students homeroom and name in the notes section.

Robotics Team Challenge

Congratulations to the DeSales Robotics team! They competed in the VEX IQ Robotics Challenge at LaSalle Prep last Saturday. The team broke out into 3 groups with two of the groups tying for 2nd and 3rd places. The 3rd group earned the Judges Award for their perseverance and team accomplishments!

Way to go Knights! A huge thank you to the very dedicated parent coaches, Mrs. Manning, Mr. Manning and Mr. Rupp!
