WELOME BACK!!
August, 2024
Dear Park Avenue families!
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I reach out today as the new principal of Park Avenue Elementary School! My first weeks here have been incredible, and I’ve been hard at work meeting with people in and around the school to build relationships that will strengthen our ability to support our kids and ensure a strong educational program.
I am honored to return to Port Chester, which was my home community, and work hard on behalf of the children at Park Avenue as we continue to enhance the greatness that already exists in the Park Ave community. Our guiding theme for this year is “One Team, One Dream, Let’s Grow Together!” These words ring true to my heart as together, we must strive to achieve common goals as we move towards greatness. For my part, I will work tirelessly to ensure that PAS is joyful and conducive to growth and learning.
Each and every day when your children walk through our doors, they become my top priority. All of us here at Park Avenue will work hard to ensure “success for EVERY student” as we care for the whole child, support their social emotional as well as academic needs, and most importantly ensure that they feel safe and loved. In these walls, our children will learn to innovate, collaborate, think critically, build leadership skills and utilize the tools around them to lay a foundation for a better future.
I want to welcome our new and returning families to a great year at PAS. I also encourage all of our parents to become active members of our PTO because with your support, our students can enjoy amazing events and other opportunities that contribute to an amazing school experience. Please also know that my goal is to communicate early and often! In order for you to stay on top of all that is taking place at PAS, please be sure to have an updated cell phone number and email address on record with the school. If you need to update your information, please contact Amy Perez at 914-934-7895 or aperez@portchesterschools.org.
You can expect a community newsletter approximately every 2 weeks. Through this, I am hopeful to strengthen the school to home connection as we actively engage with our parent community! Please never hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns at cdreves@portchesterschools.org. I sincerely look forward to working with you this year and for many years to come! With your partnership, this will be the best year yet for PAS!!
Sincerely,
Craig Dreves
Principal, Park Avenue Elementary

Meet the PARK AVENUE HEROES OF SUMMER
I just started in the position of Principal at Park Avenue in mid-July, and I am blessed to work with many incredible people. I'd like to give a special thank you to the true heroes of the summer. Our custodial staff - Anthony, AJ, Joe and Saul worked hard to prepare the building for our return! From overseeing a new LED light install to cleaning rooms, waxing floors and making needed repairs, this team worked tirelessly to create a safe and inviting environment for our students.
Additionally, our wonderful Assistant Principal, Elsy Gonzalez, and main office secretary, Amy Perez, are the people who have ensured continuity in my transition to Park. We wouldn't have made it without them, and I extend my deepest gratitude to all that they do.
VIRTUAL PARENT COFFEE with Principal Dreves
Mr. Dreves is hosting virtual parent coffee sessions on the second Friday of each month from 9:30-10am. There is no set agenda, and parents are welcome to log in and discuss what's on their minds.
The first Parent Coffee will be held Friday, September 13 at 9:30am. As we move forward, I'll be in touch with the PTO to see how we can facilitate some in person meetings also.
The Port Chester School District's mission is to develop responsible and self-sufficient citizens who value cultural diversity, are creative and adaptable, and have the skills to think critically, communicate effectively, and continue growing individually.
The district's vision is "SUCCESS FOR EVERY STUDENT".
