Jag News
Week of 9/16 - 20, 2024-25
Message from the Principal
As we go through the sixth week of school, please remember to keep an eye on our grades and attendance in the Family Access portal and Student Access portal. Also, there is a grade report for No Pass No Play extra-curricular events at the end of this week.
Reminder that Tuesday, 9/17/24, is our Meet the Teacher Open House PTSA Greenback night! There will be a PTSA General meeting at 6 pm and the Open House will start about 6:35 pm.
Please remember to be courteous and patient while dropping off and picking up your child at school. The majority are doing so and we understand that sometimes some people take shortcuts. Please be patient with all for the safety of our kids. Thank you!
For all Jags in 2024-25, be sure read all of the information below and continue to check your NEISD email periodically for information about the start of school and other events to start the year.
Sincerely,
Gary Comalander - Principal

District Connected Classroom chromebooks
Parents & Guardians,
Reminder that the District does have chromebooks available for any secondary student needing access to a chromebook at home. Please read the information on the District webpage regarding the Student Lending agreement and Insurance Policy needed.
https://www.neisd.net/connectedclassroom
Everyone should have received an 'optional' School Cash Online email today about the Chromebook Insurance Policy and you should see the Technology Lending agreement in your Family Access portal. These are optional and only filled out if you are wanting to have access to a chromebook at home. Please use the first 3 weeks of school to determine your student's needs and whether they need access to a chromebook lending device. If so, both the Student Lending agreement and Insurance Policy must be completed before receiving a chromebook.

CTJ/NEISD Discipline: E-cigarettes & Vaping
HB 114, requires a student to be removed from class/school and placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) for possessing, using, selling, giving, or delivering to another person an e-cigarette/vaping device.
This law includes nicotine vape pens or any components of a vaping device.
Nothing is changing with regards to the law and consequences on when a device tests positive for THC. For THC, the 1st offense is a longer recommendation to DAEP and a 2nd offense for THC can be a recommendation of Expulsion from NEISD.

Loudest Student Section Voting Challenge Presented by Vapes Down!
Save Your Breath School Spirit Challenge: Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and DSHS
VOTING IS UNDERWAY! Only a couple hundred votes separate all 60 schools, and the time is NOW to get ahead!!
Vote here to lift your school to the top: https://www.texasfootball.com/vapes-down-loudest-student-section-voting-challenge/?ref=subnav
Voting takes place from September 3rd – October 31st!
Vaping can make it harder for students to achieve their goals, both academically and athletically. It causes brain fog, dependency, and poor athletic performance. People may know that nicotine is addicting, but they likely don’t realize it can rewire the teenage brain.
That’s why we wanted to inform you about the Save Your Breath School Spirit Challenge: Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and DSHS have selected CTJ as 1 of 60 finalists in the state to compete in our Loudest Student Section in Texas voting challenge. This isn't just about bragging rights—it's about coming together as a community to make a positive change.
Click here to vote for our student section to be named the loudest in Texas!
