We hope you enjoyed your "Snow Day," and that you were able to stay safe and warm. We didn't receive enough of the ""good stuff" to have fun, but it was really nice to see! Please make sure to complete your "E-Learning" assignments and turn in by January 17 in order to be counted as "present" for the day. Teachers sent assignments via Paper AND Canvas. Students should upload completed assignments to the Canvas courses or turn in to teachers by hand.
This week, some informative reports will be coming home. Please take time to review the information with your student. There will be:
- the Quarter 2 Report Card--please check the Q2 grades!
- the Winter MAP report--this llustrates where your student stands in growth and achievement for ELA and Math.
- a Goal sheet which lists your student's acheivement goals.
Please speak with your child about the importance of doing his/her best on MAP. Students take MAP 3 times a year, and scores help measure your student's achievement in ELA and Math across the grade level in the state and across the country. Scores on MAP help predict whether he/she will "meet" grade level achievement on SCReady, and it gives remediation areas for your student. MAP scores are uploaded to IXL and other programs in order to create skill plans. Your student's IXL skill plan for math has been updated with Winter MAP achievement. Please sign that you have received the information and send the signature sheet back with your student by Friday.
This week, those who achieved growth of 3 points or more on MAP ELA, and those who had at least 3 points on Math MAP, will get to enjoy their rewards of eathing with friends at lunch and having extra canteen time. These rewards were suggested by a group of Falcon Time representatives in a meeting in November!
****A group of students achieved MAT goals (his/her annual median growth goal), and some already achieved MAP AVT (added value growth) goals!! These are major accomplishments for students, especially considering the AVT goal means that the student reached a year's growth already! We will have a special treat for those students next week! Be on the lookout for information on the special treats and rewards.****
