Dear Parents / Carers,
We have had a fabulous week at Kirk Fenton this week with Sports Day a real highlight!
We have made good use of the lovely weather to get outside and use our grounds to support lessons as well as playtimes. Sports Day was wonderful in the sunshine yesterday and it was great to see parents in school to support their children. The children all tried their best and showed perseverance, sportsmanship and support for each other which was lovely to see. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to the Friends of Kirk Fenton for supplying ice lollies.
On Tuesday, Coehlo and Hughes classes enjoyed a visit from author Elizabeth Green. They enjoyed listening to her stories and asked lots of great questions.
So onto classes for next year - there are a few changes.
Reception - Mrs Westfeld with Miss Graham and Ms. Pastichnyk
Year 1 (Current Donaldson) - Mrs Slater with Mrs Walton
Year 1/2 (Current Hughes) - Mrs Harrison with Mrs Darnton
Year 2 (Current Coelho) - Miss Moody with Mrs Mawson
Year 3 (Current Rosen) - Mr Whiteley with TA Tbc
Year 4 (Current Milligan) - Mr Symes with Mrs Parnaby and Mrs Clarke
Year 5 (Current Zephaniah) - Mrs Bembridge and Mrs Wolterman with Miss Bingley and Mrs Peace
Year 6 (Current Shakespeare) - Mr Priory with Mrs Lynn
We will be saying goodbye to Mrs Skelton and Mrs Bamforth as they go on to pursue very different roles outside of traditional education. We wish them both good luck in their new jobs and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their work at Kirk Fenton.
Mrs Keyse will be stepping up into the Learning Mentor role in September. Mrs Young will be returning to us briefly in the Autumn term before starting maternity leave.
Could I please remind you that the only bags that children should be bringing into school are their book bags especially in KS1 and EYFS. We are seeing lots of children carrying heavy backpacks that we just don't have room for in the cloakrooms. If your child needs a change of clothes, this can be kept on their peg in school.
Have a lovely weekend,
Karen Williams

Sunshine and blue skies beckon (although there are no guarantees with the British weather!). As the summer approaches, we look forward to cloudless skies, BBQ's and relaxing with friends and family. But as the temperatures rise, so can the heat in our family life! Tempers can fray with the longer days; our patience can be stretched to the limits with the season of school exams.
