AVID JAMO Field Trip: AVID 7th and 8th graders will be honoring Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month by studying about and then visiting the Japanese American Museum of Oregon on Thursday May 23rd!

AVID families should be on the lookout for permission slips coming home and helping students remember to get their work for that day from their teachers, as they will miss most classes that day!

AVID Spring Capstone Presentations: Wednesday May 29th from 5pm - 6pm in the Hosford Cafeteria. AVID 7th and 8th grade students will present their portfolios of their learning throughout the year, we will have pizza to eat, and 8th graders will get their certificates and promotion cords!

AVID families please be on the lookout for RSVP cards and please bookmark that night!

7th Grade Parents Needed for 8th Grade Promotion

Eighth grade promotion is coming up on June 13, 2024. Traditionally, 7th grade parents have hosted on

the behalf of the PTSA. We would love to have a few seventh grade parents who would be willing to help

with this event so our eighth grade families can be fully present for their student.

Set up starts at 5pm and clean up ends around 7:30pm. The event takes place at Cleveland High School.

8th Grade Oaks Park Field Trip Volunteers Needed

We need 8th-grade parents to help with the Oaks Park field trip on June 10th. We will be hosting a picnic

and need volunteers to help serve as well as parent chaperones. Please sign up to volunteer using the link

8th Graders will turn in their Chromebooks on Friday, June 7th and 6/7th graders on Thursday, June 13th. Students will need to turn in the charging cord and Chromebook.

ALL 8TH GRADERS ARE REQUIRED TO TURN IN CHROMEBOOKS.

6th and 7th Grade students may keep it over the summer if absolutely necessary. A permission form may be requested by emailing us.

Hello families!

This year all 8th grade students in PPS will be participating in a capstone experience at either a college visit or job site shadowing day. Then, students will complete a written reflection to demonstrate their learning.

Students were surveyed to share their preferences for job shadowing or the college visit. Choices were Portland Center Stage, IBEW Electrical Union, a real estate firm, a farm and a visit to Oregon State University!

In order to accommodate these various trips, we are looking for a minimum of 10-15 chaperones.

Details:

• All chaperones must have a current PPS background check and be available for the entire trip (likely the whole school day).

• Here is the district information about getting cleared to participate

• Trips will be either June 4th or June 6th.

• All attempts will be made to place you with your child/family member/student and if that isn’t possible we will let you know ahead of time.
