Parent Representatives - STEAM TEAM
Hello Parents/Guardians,
We are looking for a few willing participants to join our 'STEAM' Team: an opportunity to collaborate with CMS staff, students, administrators, and outside organizations about the implementation of MyCAP content. This team will brainstorm and plan curriculum across all grades 6-8 that have a core focus on career exploration and skill-building.
There will be 2 Saturday meetings that will run for 4 hours. The first will be in November November 9th. These longer meetings are to plan out the scope and sequence for each grade as well as beginning to brainstorm lessons/activities. We will then meet once a month after school for more brief check-ins and planning.
Please email Elena Pizzotti if you are interested at epizzotti@salemk12.org

Saltonstal Middle School Transition
Information
Dr. Zrike has shared with the Saltonstall and Salem community that he is recommending a phase out of the Salts middle school grades beginning next school year. The formal recommendation was shared with the School Committee. Based on Saltonstall community input, the School Committee will decide if all middle school grades will move to Collins at once or only one grade at a time so that students can finish their middle school years at Saltonstall. It was important for me to keep you informed as it will impact the CMS community over the next few years. We are excited about this opportunity to serve more students and to have additional resources to provide more enriching experiences to all of our students in the coming years. Thank you in advance for your support as we welcome new students and families to CMS!

CMS School-Based Rules and Agreements
The goal of this document is to support families, staff, and students in outlining clear and consistent expectations for the Collins Middle School.
We recognize that clarity is necessary in setting a strong foundation for the positive school culture and climate at Collins Middle School. Collins Middle School is committed to providing an equitable environment for all students, and to ensuring that all students are able to access their right to a free appropriate public education. For this reason, it is vital that students and families understand the rights and responsibilities of a student of Collins Middle School. For a full overview of the areas addressed below, please refer to the Collins Middle School Handbook, which is in adherence to the Salem Public Schools Code of Conduct.
This document provides an overview of our expectations and provides details on our response to infractions in the event that situations arise over the course of the school year.
