Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations this Friday
Parents of Spanish track students are invited to attend Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations this Friday. The Lower Campus performance begins at 8:30am in the Village Plaza. Upper Campus starts at 1pm (gates open at 12:45pm). Please note, that due to limited space, the event is only open to families with students in the Spanish track.
Upper Campus are looking for volunteers to help make this Friday's celebrations a success at UC

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations
Families of Spanish track students are invited to attend the HHM performance at 8:30am on Friday, October 11, in the Lower Campus village plaza.
Kindergarten through 5th grade - ALMA grades will be coming out this week
K–5 ALMA grades will be coming out this week. Students receive a proficiency grade in language on their report card. For information on the American Council on Teaching Foreign Language (ACTFL) proficiency levels, please click here.

Connections - Science
Fall Update: Want to know what your student is doing in Science Connections? Has your 1st grade student showed you their Breeze Buddies, a weather tool that helps them visualize how the wind is blowing? Ask your Kindergartner to explain how the things in their mouth help them eat. Ask your 2nd grade student to give you examples of fast and slow land changes, and ask your 3rd grade student to tell you what Georgia Habitat they are researching. Thanks! Mrs. Herron.
LC Nurse
Please keep in mind that if your child has a fever they cannot return to campus for 24 hours following the resolution of the fever (without the use of fever reducing medications). If a child vomits, they cannot return to class for 24 hours following the last time that they vomited. Please know that if a child that was sent home by a nurse and returns to school the following day, and it has not been 24 hours, arrangements will be made for them to be sent home. This is in alignment with DeKalb County School District guidelines. If you have any questions, please reach out to Nurse Kate. Thank you for your partnership as we work to maintain a healthy learning environment.

The first meeting for the Middle School Reading Bowl Team took place yesterday, Tuesday, October 8. If you haven’t registered your child, please click here to do so. Connections - Art
We are pleased to share a few images of art projects on display at UC. The art pictured below are samples of Zentangles, created by 6th grade art students. Zentangles are compositions created in a semi spontaneous way using line, pattern, and color.

Spirit Night at Bell Street Burrito
Come out to the PTCC Spirit Night at Bell Street Burrito on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm. Carry-out and pick-up are included in Spirit Night contribution but the payment must be made in person at the restaurant. No online orders are included in the Spirit Night. 20% of the sales brought in by spirit night will be donated back to the school. Families do not need to bring a flyer. Lower Campus Science Fest is Coming
Does your student want to learn about bubbles, bacteria, or blood?
Do they like to make slime? Then, join us for Science Fest on Saturday, October 26, from 10:00am to 12noon in the Village Plaza. Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of hands-on STEM-related exhibits that will spark your child’s imagination and curiosity! Spirit Night at the Hawks vs Celtics is Monday, November 4, 2024
Get ready for some family fun and basketball as we celebrate Spirit Night at the Atlanta Hawks vs Boston Celtics game. Will the home team beat the defending NBA champions? Registration for Basketball is now open. Click here for details.
Girls basketball tryouts will be Monday, October 28 and 30, from 3:30pm to 5pm. Boys will be Tuesday, October 29 and Friday, November 1, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
GLOBE Games Volleyball Edition
October 24 and 25
We will be holding another teachers vs students GLOBE Games event, to be held at GLOBE Gym on October 24 and 25, 2024. This time the sport will be volleyball.
Thursday, October 24, 4:30pm to 6:30pm - grades K–5.
Friday, October 25, 3:30pm to 6:30pm - Middle School.
We are looking for volunteers to help set up, run, and breakdown the concession sales (three parents for each). Click here to sign up.
Fall Sports Highlights
Boys Soccer
A Team is in 1st place after defeating Ridgeview 5-2 on Monday. They will play Davis on Thursday.
Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate is in 2nd Place. They play Peachtree Ridge today and Davis on Thursday to finish the regular season.
Cross Country
All teams are really performing well. Girls finished #3 out of 14 teams on Monday.
Top runners overall: (1st place) Violet Hall, Jessel Martin, (2nd place) Grayson Miller and Lyle Sargent. Final meet of the season is on Monday, October 21.
Volleyball
A Team is tied for 4th place with Davis and they play each other on Thursday. The winner of that game will likely make the playoffs. B Team is currently in 2nd place and also doing a great job this season.
Congratulations to all of our GLOBE teams and we wish them all the very best of luck as we finish up the season!

Mark your calendars for November 15 as GLOBE Trot is returning!
Planning for GLOBE’s biggest fundraiser of the year has already begun. GLOBE Trot is a school-wide fun run and exercise-focused event where all GLOBE students will run, skip, race, and have fun while promoting healthy bodies and healthy minds. Volunteers are needed to help with planning events for the day, fundraising, and soliciting donations. If you are interested in volunteering and creating a lasting memory for the student body, please reach out to Andrew Dahl.
