You can complete the paper application and pick up your parking permit at the MISD Police Office at 1522 N Walnut Creek Dr. (behind Wester MS). You must have their driver's license, proof of current insurance, and $30 cash or check.
We have been fortunate NOT to have a need for a "Hold" on campus this year. To be proactive, I wanted to take the opportunity to share some information about what a "Hold" is.
What is the difference between a "Hold" and a "Lockdown"?
A "Hold" is designed to keep everyone in one spot. This could be done for several reasons, but the purpose is to limit and monitor movement. Parents CAN come in the building and we are able to get students from class, but they have to be escorted from class to the front by an adult. This slows the process down. Students CAN enter the building when coming back from Ben Barber, but they will be held in either the cafeteria or at the front of the building. Teachers can keep teaching, and the day can continue as normal. Students just stay put.
A "Lockdown" indicates there is a perceived danger inside or very near the building. All students and staff are trained to get behind a locked door, lights off, and everyone out of sight. No one is allowed in or out of the building. We would communicate with Ben Barber to hold Legacy students on their campus and not release them to return because they would not be let in the building. No phones will be answered because ALL faculty and staff are part of the lockdown.
If there is a hold, who do I contact if I'm worried about what is going on and want to check on the status?
You can call the main campus number with questions. That number is (682)314-0600. Please be patient with them. When we are on a hold and a mass message to parents is warranted during the day, they are inundated with calls and are also often limited in what they are able to say. We pull extra help up front, but it is still overwhelming for them.
You can email me at stephaniebonneau@misdmail.org, but please understand that you may not hear from me until we have cleared whatever issue it at hand. All of our administration team is focused on the campus needs throughout the hold or lockdown.
When something happens on campus, why can't the campus send out more detailed information?
Usually we are limited in the information we are able to give because the situation is part of an active investigation. I know this is very frustrating for parents - sometimes it's frustrating for me too. Sometimes we must be vague because confidentiality.
Fines and Fees: Please check your fines and fees in Skyward. Homecoming will be here soon, and all fines and fees must be cleared to buy a ticket to the Homecoming Dance.

Homecoming Mum Workshops!
Going to Homecoming and needing help making your mum or garter? Plan on attending one or all of this year's Mum Making Workshops. The dates are 9/18, 9/25 and 10/2 from 3-5 in Mrs. Dietrich's Art room (EN 105). Parents are welcome to attend (check in at the front desk)! Please bring supplies. Mrs. Dietrich will have lots of ribbon, glue, stickers, rhinestones and trinkets to use, but not enough for everyone to make a complete mum or garter (No flowers). Bring what you have and we can supplement. If you would like to donate old mums or garters, ribbon or any leftover supplies, please bring them or drop them off at the front desk with Mrs. Dietrich's name on it. We can use all we can get!
Any questions, please email Mrs. Dietrich at pameladietrich@misdmail.org.

MISD Parent Hub for Social Emotional Learning
Social and Emotional Learning in MISD is Relational Practices. Relational Practices assist in the ability to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Along with our mission to support students, empower teachers, and collaborate with administrators, we want to partner with parents to meet the needs of your children at home. The purpose of this site is to provide resources and support as you navigate through the journey of raising kids in the 2020s. Click here to access the MISD Parent Hub for Social Emotional Learning.
As part of Vision 2030, MISD is helping students become life, college and career ready through our student scorecards. Ask your student to log into Edugence and see what they have been working on!
