Thank you to all the families who joined us for Lunch with a Loved One on Friday. It was beautiful to see the quad filled with families enjoying the sunny afternoon with their students and meeting friends. The event was a success, and many parents asked if we would do it again. Yes, JLA will host a spring Lunch with a Loved One so we can fill the quad with families and memories once again.

We also had the pleasure of hosting a community partner event for our students at lunch on Thursday, the Kiwanis Kids and Cops. This event was a resounding success, with our students gaining valuable insights into careers in law enforcement, including LBPD forensics, dive team, K-9 unit, bike patrol, etc. It was heartwarming to see the officers engaging with our students, and the impromptu basketball games added a fun twist. Our elective classes hosted LBPD guest speakers, including our LBPD Chief of Police, who shared their experiences and knowledge with our students.

This week, we are thrilled to kick off our Boys' basketball season with a home game on Wednesday vs. Powell at Jefferson at 4:30 and an away game on Friday, Jefferson vs. IVA at Hughes at 4:30. Let's all come together to cheer on our Jags and show our school spirit.

Parents, please review your child's grades on Canvas to ensure they are working towards being on track for high school, passing their classes with a C or better, completing assignments, and attending school each day. If your child needs additional support with their studies, teachers are available before or after school for further help. Please see the teacher office hours on our webpage, which is linked here.

Finally, mark your calendars for Thanksgiving Break, November 25-29.

When picking up your student before school dismissal, please plan to pick up your student before or after the lunch period. To support lunch supervision, all support staff are unavailable, and we will not be able to release students who are at lunch. Please plan ahead and pick up your student before or after lunch.

Currently all JLA TAP Cards have been issued and we are waiting for our next delivery for LB Transit.

Starting January 27, 2025, students will have the option to dress out in PE clothes! You can purchase official PE uniforms from our banker, Mr. Ryono, who is available on Monday afternoons, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Students will also have the opportunity to purchase their clothes during PE classes:

• November 14th and December 10- Young/U classes
• November 19th and December 12- Davi/Silva classes

Students may wear the official Jefferson PE uniform or a white t-shirt paired with navy blue athletic shorts. If you would like your child to dress out, please start purchasing uniforms now.

As well, to ensure everyone's safety, any phone that gets confiscated during Physical education will be taken to the office for parent or guardian to pick up. Parent or guardians will be notified by your student’s teacher via phone call or email.

8th grade Parents- It's time to start thinking about the process of selecting a high school for your student. This is a very important and exciting time. Here is the schedule for the high school choice site nights where you will be able to visit and learn about our LBUSD high schools!
