Board Report September 2024
Director of Operations
MAINTENANCE / GROUNDS / TRANSPORTATION
- Exterior doors are remaining a top priority and these are being check in each building weekly or even daily. The maintenance department knows the importance of these door sweeps and are quick to respond when work orders are placed. We have the replacement of the Ag Shop roll-up doors scheduled.
- The transportation department trained several additional coaches to drive the Ultracoach bus to out of town games.
- We are enjoying these cooler temperatures but we know it probably will not last. Several HVAC units are struggling to keep our buildings cool during this heatwave. Mike Hayes and David Adams have been on every roof and in every building to have all the systems running.
- The Grounds Crew is staying busy with mowing and delivering supplies. All of the grounds are looking good. We would also like to welcome Darren Mendez to our Grounds Team.
- The Transportation Department has removed the faded hoods from the buses and had a contractor paint and repair them. All the route buses are fueled and the routes have been reviewed with the route drivers. Everyone is ready for the first day!
- Although some of our buses are having some mechanical issues, we are still running all 10 routes and are transporting an average of 410 students per day. This number is steadily growing.
- We had a serious condensation/AC leak on the IWE Gym floor at the beginning of the summer. We contracted a company to replace the warped flooring, sand the whole court, repaint, and seal the surface. We were also able to add the awesome logo to center court!
TECHNOLOGY
- All new staff members have received their technology devices and our tech staff is staying busy with beginning of the year work orders. They have closed around 150 tech tickets in the past three weeks (mostly in reference to account logins, new phones, and connecting to printers).
- The Tech Team have been on all campuses to: cleanup laptop carts, cleanup Chromebook carts, replace nonfunctioning Promethean Boards, etc.
- Carlito is teaching high school students how to repair Chromebooks. He visits their class 2-3 times a week to train and check on resources/parts. Stephanie is also taking some of the BHS Tech Student-Aides with her as she resolves tech issues on campus.
- Mrs. Avery instructed 2nd and 3rd grade students on proper Chromebook use. She also will be helping Kinder teachers with iPad management using Securly.
