Notes from the desk of Principal Papes
Dear Alto Families,
I hope your students have enjoyed the recent snow days! With only two school days this past week, we don’t have a lot to report out that is specific to this past week. However, it is important to make you aware of some rescheduled and upcoming events. Have a great weekend!
New Date for the 2nd and 3rd Grade Music Program!
Due to the school cancelation on February 22nd, the 2nd and 3rd grade music program has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 8th. We have scheduled two program times (10 AM and 2 PM) to provide more flexibility for those attending and to spread out the crowd. We do not have the room in our gym to accommodate all attendees comfortably for one show. Therefore, we ask that parents and other attendees select one time to attend. We are looking forward to this special event!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held throughout the week of March 13th. The format for conferences will be similar to the format for conferences in February of last year. Next week, we will be sending an e-mail with sign up genius links for all teachers.
For the conferences this past fall, we encouraged parents to attend in person as this was a critical opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher in person and start to build a relationship. As these relationships have been maintained throughout the school year, virtual conferences are encouraged and are a convenient way to connect with your child’s teacher for the upcoming March conferences. If parents are unable to hold a virtual conference, a phone conference can also be held. In person conferences are also an option.
Our teachers are excited for the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress in school. Parent/Teacher conferences provide an important opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress in school. Thank you for partnering with us in support of your child!
True Success Program
We continue to utilize the True Success program to enrich our classrooms with creative and engaging character education lessons. These lessons align with a monthly theme. They include: Respect, Responsibility, Gratitude, Self-Control, Grit, Courage, Encouragement, Compassion, and Integrity. Feel free to visit their website at https://truesuccesstools.org/ to learn more.
Attention families with incoming kindergarteners!
The Countdown to Kindergarten orientation for students and parents has been scheduled for Thursday, May 11th. If you have a student who will turn 5 by September 1st, 2023, they can start their school journey. You may also sign a waiver for your child to start school if they turn 5 by December 1st, 2023. Required paperwork for enrollment includes proof of residency, original birth certificate, up to date immunizations and a health appraisal. Information can be found on our school website:
