Molnar's Community Update
August 30, 2024
Comet Nation,
I want to start this week's update with a shout-out to all our fall athletic teams who are having a tremendous start to their fall season. It is hard to believe but we are already at the point in the season where we need to start thinking about Senior Nights! Please see the scheduled Senior Nights below, and save the date to come and support our student athletes and their teams!
Connect to a Cause
Save the Date to support the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation (ASEF) during the Community Foundation of Lorain County's Connect to a Cause event on September 19th! ASEF supports the Amherst Schools in many ways, including helping to fund improvements to our educational spaces, like the Creative Learning Centers at Marion L. Steele and AJH. They also provided funding for our new Comet Corner, which will provide invaluable real-world experience in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship for our Comets through classes offered in our Makerspace. As if that was not enough, ASEF also provides scholarship opportunities for our Senior class, giving out $84,625 last year at our Senior Awards Banquet.
We are so thankful for this exceptional partnership with ASEF and hope you can see the value in donating on September 19th!
Wellness and Success Coordinator to our district.
Our Department of Student Services is excited to announce the addition of a Wellness and Success Coordinator to our district. This position has been made possible through federal funds awarded to Lorain County Job and Family Services in partnership with the Lorain County Education Service Center. This initiative comes at no additional cost to the district and represents a significant investment in student well-being and programming.
Working closely with our Assistant Superintendent, Sarah Walker, the Wellness and Success Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Student Programs and Services goal within our Strategic Plan by enhancing and refining the district’s current wellness initiatives. This individual will be responsible for assessing and evaluating existing wellness resources such as social-emotional support, physical health, and behavioral and mental health services within the school district, providing guidance and technical assistance of evidence-based programs and initiatives, and coordinating professional learning related to student wellness in areas including social-emotional, physical health, behavioral, and mental health.
We are proud to expand our commitment to student wellness with the support of this new role. This partnership defines our commitment to educate, empower and equip each student by ensuring that we can continue to provide our students with the resources they need to thrive, both academically, socially, and emotionally.

Stanley Black and Decker Donation
A HUGE thank you to Stanley Black and Decker (SBD) for donating over $5300 in tools for our Makerspace students! The new tools will help bridge the gap in the skills needed for the trade industry by training students on how to use and problem-solve with them. The Navy National Defense Cadet Corp and Ms. Boggs's Makerspace 1 and 2 classes will also benefit from this awesome tool donation. Thank you to Mr. John Agostinelli (pictured to the right) for completing the tool donation process and submitting a wish list that resulted in receiving these tools for our students. We are so thankful for our community partners and the resources that they have provided for our Comets in the Makerspace.
