Highlighted Students of the Month
What is PRIDE at NMS? These are a few examples:
Prepared: Students bringing their iPad charged every day and turning in homework on time.
Respect: Keeps school property clean and treats others respectfully.
Integrity: Shows leadership, follows technology basics and makes good choices when adults are not watching.
Dependability: Completing work on time and doing what you said you will do.
Excellence: Enters class ready to work, encourages others and shows the best version of themselves each day.
Northfield Middle School staff have selected three students for Quarter 2.
Marin McBroom, Grade 7
Marin is kind to students and faculty. For example, our team had a new student arrive mid-quarter. Marin invited the new student to join her lab group and helped her learn how to use the iPad. Marin is an inclusive, positive leader and academically very strong.
Robert Steed, Grade 7
The Team 2 Grade 7 teachers would like to recognize Robert Steed as student of the month. Robert consistently shows his PRIDE in the classroom and beyond. He is a conscientious worker who shows consistent academic excellence across all subject areas. He is an engaged student who volunteers to participate frequently in large group discussions. In addition, he is kind, considerate and a positive leader in small group settings. Robert advocates for others and insists that all are treated respectfully through engaging conversations with both peers and adults. Thank you, Robert, for showing us what PRIDE looks like at NMS!
Eva Duarte Cruz, Grade 7
Eva Duarte Cruz is a wonderful, positive presence at NMS. She works hard to complete her work and is helpful when we have new-to-country students. She is funny, respectful and a joy to have in class!
Evelyn Findlay
Evelyn is a kind, hard working student who demonstrates both skill and passion for FACS coursework so far. Evelyn is a leader in her groups and helps others when they don’t understand. She participates in class and completes assigned tasks independently. Keep up the good work Evelyn.
Winter activities: Fitness Center, Wrestling, Ski/Snowboard Club, Speech, Knowledge Bowl, Math Olympiad.
Northfield Middle School staff want each of you to enjoy family and friends. Get some rest and rejuvenate for the new year. Happy Holidays!
Tutoring Hotline
Tutoring Hotline is a volunteer program that matches Carleton volunteers with Rice County students of all ages in need of free, one-on-one academic assistance in any subject. Our program supports students who already have a set curriculum; our tutors are not equipped to assign new content. Approved tutors sign up for specific tutoring requests depending on their academic interests and availability and will meet with students for about one hour, once a week in a public location or via Zoom. Tutoring sessions are individualized to the student’s needs and may include review of concepts learned in school, preparation for upcoming tests, help with homework, etc.
