A Week of Winter Wonder

The traditional elementary school winter concerts brought joy to the District 123 Community as students performed for families throughout the last two weeks. The students and teachers did a wonderful job displaying their hard work and dedication. Each elementary school had its chorus, kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders sing and dance to seasonal songs.

Successful Lady Mustang Season!

Our Lady Mustang program showcased their talent in the 2023 SWIC Conference Tournament. In the second round of the tournament, our 6/7th grade Lady Mustangs played Grissom. When our OLHMS Ladies went head to head with Grissom, they battled and won by six points.

Happy Holidays, Mustangs!

Mustangs showed their spirit this holiday season as they counted down to Winter Break! Thanks to Art Teacher, Ms. Petraitis, for creating a winter-themed week, all Mustang staff and students were spreading some holiday cheer! Monday's forecast called for 50° and rain, but the hallways were covered in Hawaiian shirts and floral patterns for Snow on the Beach day!

Winter Concert!

In a dazzling display of talent and festive cheer, Covington School had its annual Winter Concert and Dance Performances on Monday, captivating the audience with a delightful blend of musical melodies and Taylor Swift themed dance routines. The school's auditorium was filled to capacity as proud parents, teachers, and community members gathered to witness the students dance and sing.

Polar Express Day

First grade students were greeted by train Conductor, Mr. Strickland, as Polar Express Day commenced this Thursday at Hannum School. Each students' ticket was checked before they embarked on their day-long adventure. The students enjoyed various Polar Express centers. One of the centers was a hot chocolate station, where students had the chance to make their own hot chocolate.

How the Grinch Stole the School Day!

On December 14th the Kolmar first grade classrooms were Grinched! The students were dressed as all different Whoville characters. There were costumes and hairstyles that got everyone's attention! The students participated in many different Grinch themed activities throughout the day and even got to watch the Grinch movie!

A Performance That Would Melt the Grinch's Heart.

The glorious sound of children was heard at the Winter concert on December 14th. Mrs. Glikis, Sward's Music Teacher, led the Sward Chorus and students in grades Kindergarten, First and Second in a vocal and instrumental performance that would melt the Grinch's heart. The Sward Chorus is a wonderful group of 4th and 5th graders.

District 123 Food Service Vendor Introduces My School Menus

Arbor Management, Inc., Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123's foodservice management company, is introducing a new interactive online menu called "My School Menus." The District will begin using this website in January. "This new menu platform will help our student families access individual meal descriptions, ingredient lists, nutritional data, and allergen information, all from the convenience of their smartphone," Michael Loftin, Assistant Superintendent, said.
