Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
September 20, 2024
We had a great week of learning at the Lab! Most of our grade levels are in the second unit of our Reading curriculum and are approaching the end of their first unit of Math instruction. We are proud of the hard work our teachers are facilitating and the progress our students are making.
We want to share two positions for which we are hiring!
We have an opening for an aide in our Social-Emotional Learning program. This position is to support students in one of our SEL classrooms under the direction of the classroom teacher and in partnership with a para-educator. The individuals in these positions support students individually or in small group with work completion and encouragement and accompany students to Related Arts classes. The hours are 9:20 - 4:05 and pay is $18/hour. Additional information and application can be found here.
We also have an opening for a part-time position combining aide and lunchroom assistant for 4 hours per day / 20 hours per week. The pay for this position is also $18.00 an hour. The daily hours are somewhat negotiable within the 9:05 - 4:05 window. This work would be a combination of classroom student support in the general education setting and lunchroom support. Additional information can be found here.
Please share with folks who have a heart for children and would like to work with a great, supportive team! Interested candidates should please contact us at school by calling 443-809-7800 or emailing smccomb@bcps.org.
Important reminder -- Fall Family Night is just two weeks from this Tuesday, on October 8th. The anchor session for our Fall Family Night is a Cultural Fair in the gym! This is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful diversity that makes Lutherville Lab such a special community featuring 28 different home languages and 93 students whose families have a primary home language other than, or in addition to English! We are seeking families who would like to display and share some of their family's cultural roots. We welcome returning families to continue to share and welcome new families to share as well! If you'd like to sign up or have questions, please reach out ot Shaimaa Hussein at shimaahussien86@gmail.com.
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb

Respiratory Infection Guidance
Please see the guidance below from the Office of Health Services:
Students and staff who develop a respiratory infection (e.g., fever with cough, sore throat, and/or runny nose) should stay home until the fever is gone for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication and their symptoms are improving.
Health officials recommend that people with respiratory infections consult with their health care provider. Testing for COVID-19 and/or influenza is recommended for persons who are at higher risk for severe disease who might benefit from antiviral treatment and for those who have anticipated close contact for persons at higher risk for severe disease.
Persons returning to school and work after a respiratory infection are encouraged to use additional prevention strategies such as maintaining physical distance from others and wearing a mask for give (5) days.
Instrumental music lessons have begun for our 5th graders
