Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome, NPS families! It's officially back to school time. As we approach the start of a new school year this week on August 15th, I wanted to share some important information.

First, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all our new families joining us this year, and a heartfelt welcome back to our returning families. We're excited to embark on another year of growth, learning, and discovery with your student.

A few key points to note:

1. Need-to-know events: We know this is a busy time! Check out the Important Back-to-School Dates.

2. Calendars: Keep track of the entire school year, plus Athletics and Fine Arts events with these calendars.

3. School Supplies: Updated supply lists for each grade level are available on our website.

4. Transportation: Find out what bus your child will ride using this tool.

5. After School Care: Norman offers after school care through AlphaBest. You can sign up now!

6. Volunteers: We always appreciate parent involvement. If you're interested in volunteering, please talk to your child’s school.

As we prepare for the new year, I want to assure you that our staff is committed to providing a safe, supportive and engaging environment for all our students. We look forward to partnering with you to make this an exceptional year of learning and achievement.

Your student’s teacher will use the app to communicate with you through Rooms. You will not be able to join Rooms until you are sent an email and/or text invite. Those invitations started going out yesterday, August 12. Please do not contact your child’s school about an invitation until after August 16.

As we continue to strive for excellence in our schools and the well-being of your children, please know that your feedback matters! That's why we would love your participation in this school survey. The information gathered from this survey is invaluable as it helps us assess how we are serving you and your children educationally.

Please take a few minutes to complete this online survey by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21. Survey responses are completely anonymous, and we will be provided only with aggregate data that does not identify respondents.

The elementary school and the secondary (middle and high) school who have the highest percentage of participation will receive $500 to be used for classroom materials. Let your voice be heard!

Norman Public Schools has selected Care Solace, an organization determined to calm the chaos of mental health care coordination, to expand access to community mental health and substance use treatment providers for students, staff and families. Care Solace provides a Care Companion team who can quickly and confidently find available providers in the community.
