Message from Mrs. Williams
CCI Families,
👻 Happy Halloween!
- 📢 Language Reminder: We’ve noticed an increase in inappropriate language (adult innuendo and curse words) at school, and we’re asking for your help in addressing this with your child. 🗣️ Talk it Over: Please have a conversation with your child about the importance of respectful and appropriate language at school. Remind them that the words they choose have an impact on others. 🤝 Thank You for Your Support!
- 🧩 Trivia Night: Information went home today on orange paper! If your child is interested in joining this fun-filled PTO fundraiser, sign up ASAP!
- 📚 Reading & iReady at Home: We don’t assign homework, but students can read and complete iReady lessons at home for extra Ranger Bucks!
- 📅 No School Reminder: There will be no school TOMORROW, Friday, November 1, due to county-wide professional development for staff.
- 💰 K-Kids’ Bucket Brigade: Now through November 5, K-Kids are collecting donations to fund micro-grants supporting food insecurity, literacy, and leadership for children worldwide. A donation of just $2.25 helps one child!

Building Healthy Habits
Tips from Nurse Shelby
With October officially marking the start of flu season I thought now would be a great time to review some tips for staying healthy this flu season!
One of the best ways you can be proactive against getting the flu is by getting a flu shot each year if you are able. The flu shot helps your body build immunity to the current strain of influenza “the flu”, which can prevent you from getting sick. If you do still get sick, the duration and intensity of the illness are often diminished if you are vaccinated.
Another great tip is to wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer often. Frequent hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of germs that can make you sick. As a rule, you should always wash your hands after using the restroom, before eating or drinking, and when your hands are visibly soiled. It is also important to regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as door knobs, faucets, bathrooms, and food prep areas.
To help prevent the spread of illness you should avoid being around others who are sick whenever possible. If you become sick it’s important to stay home until you are feeling better to prevent spreading the illness to others. Taking time to rest and taking in plenty of fluids can help you recover sooner too! Popsicles, broth-based soups, and warm drinks can be great ways to get in extra fluids when you aren’t feeling well. It is also a good practice to cover your nose and mouth with a tissue if you cough or sneeze, then follow up with a hand sanitizer to help minimize spreading germs to others.
Finally, it is important to take care of yourself. It is often underestimated how important simple habits such as getting good quality sleep, eating well, staying hydrated, managing stressors, and staying physically active are for good health. When we take care of ourselves it helps our immune system stay healthy, so it can do its job of keeping us from getting sick.
