Happy Friday!
As we move into Spring Break, I want to extend warm wishes for a wonderful week filled with relaxation and fun adventures. I hope this break rejuvenates our students and families alike. Remember, we're back in session on April 1st, although we promise, it's no April Fools' joke! Let's return refreshed and ready for another fantastic spring ahead. Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable break! - Erinπ

Counseling Update
Kindergarten: SS18
In our recent session, students delved into the topic of apologizing and problem-solving
through engaging exercises. By viewing videos depicting real-life scenarios, students were
prompted to analyze conflicts between two individuals. They were then encouraged to
dissect the issues, brainstorm potential solutions, and finally, apply their knowledge through
a role-play activity.
First Grade: SS20
In this session, we built upon our previous lessons centered on problem-solving skills. With
reduced adult support, students demonstrated their learning by proposing solutions to
various challenges. They then independently engaged in brainstorming and illustrating
solutions for a simulated scenario.
Second Grade: SS14
In our recent session, students focused on the topic of empathy, actively brainstorming kind
acts they could perform within their community. Students were then tasked with
independently crafting kindness cards to uplift peers at Kegonsa, fostering empathy and
community.
Third Grade: SS8
In our recent lesson, building upon insights from prior sessions, students delved into the skill
of recognizing the need for breaks when confronting intense emotions. They practiced this
skill through the analysis of hypothetical scenarios, identifying characters' emotions and
determining the necessity of breaks. Students were then tasked with showcasing their
understanding by independently evaluating situations and offering solutions applicable to
their own lives.
Fourth Grade: SS14
In our recent lesson, students explored how understanding others' points of view can
change their own thinking. Through an interactive exercise, students examined a scenario
and fostered introspection through collaborative discussions with peers and through
individual brainstorming.
Fifth Grade: SS13
During our most recent lesson, students delved into the practice of empathy building through
the exploration of perspective. This was facilitated by examining scenarios depicting
individuals impacted by community issues. Through collaborative engagement with peers
and independent reflection, students were prompted to consider various viewpoints
regarding a given problem, fostering a deeper understanding of empathy and its role in
addressing community problems.
Update from P.E.
Over the last month in PE we have concluded our Jumprope Ninja Unit and are now nearing the end of our basketball unit. Students did a great job showing determination and grit when it came to βleveling upβ when earning their Ninja belts (earned by the number of consecutive jumps they could do). We also were able to raise $4,300 in donations for the American Heart Association! Thank you for all of your generous donations!
Our students have also shone brightly on the basketball court as they worked hard on improving their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills!
Next up, ropes and tumbling!
Look what we're doing at Kegonsa this week!
