First Grade Readers - Mrs. Leakakos, Miss Diaz, and Miss Caputo
Some of our first graders have begun a book study, exploring a variety of chapter books that challenge their thinking and build their reading skills. Through this experience, they are working together to answer comprehension questions, engage in meaningful discussions, and tackle higher-order thinking challenges; all while expanding their vocabulary!

Mrs. Thayer is teaching our students all about the three different states of matter! The field trip to the DuPage Childrens Museum connected perfectly with everything the kids were learning! We think they had a spectacular time connecting what they were learning in the classroom to this trip!
Glow Run Fundraiser
The Tiger Glow Run was a huge success—thank you for your support in rallying families! We appreciate all you’ve done to make Spring Trail Elementary School so special.
Thanks to your hard work, we’ve reached our goal of $15,000 for a new slide for the orange park and other playground improvements. We hope you all enjoyed the video of our administrators getting slimed! Mrs DuPuis has another fun idea in store now that we have reached our $25,000 goal as well.
Booster is leaving our donation site open for one more week, so there will be a final round of prizes once that time period ends.
FINAL ACTION STEPS:
Update your Level Up Tracker using MyBooster.com and plan for your class rewards.
5 Essentials - Submit Your Survey TODAY!
As mentioned in our previous newsletter, the 5Essentials Survey is now open and will remain available until March 28th.
Our goal is to have 50% of our families complete the survey, but currently, we are at just 28%. We need your help to reach our goal! We know we can do it!
To encourage participation, we're offering a special incentive for your child when you complete the survey! Here's how it works:
✅ Print the attached photo, write your child's name on it, and send it to school.
✅ Your child will earn 10 Paw Bucks for turning it in to their teacher!
✅ No printer? No problem! You can also forward this message to your child’s teacher with a note confirming you completed the survey.
Why is this survey important?
The state uses the results to generate the School Report Card, which impacts our overall school rating. Additionally, our school uses the data to set goals and make Spring Trail the best it can be!
The survey focuses on five key indicators that improve student outcomes, such as better attendance and increased test scores:
🔹 Effective Leaders
🔹 Collaborative Teachers
🔹 Involved Families
🔹 Supportive Environments
🔹 Ambitious Instruction
Research shows that schools strong in at least three of these areas are 10 times more likely to see student success!
Please take a moment to complete the survey by clicking the link below:

REGISTER for the 25-26 School Year
It’s time to register for the upcoming school year! Early registration is essential, as it directly impacts our staffing. The sooner you register your child, the better we can plan and ensure we have the right staff in place to support our students.
Thank you for helping us prepare for a great year ahead!
Are You Moving???
If you and your family are moving, please make sure you complete the Google Form below. Once completed, we will send out the appropriate paperwork for you to complete.

Class Placement Request
Student placement discussions will begin soon regarding the upcoming school year. Teachers will work collaboratively with administration to place students in classrooms. We are providing parents an opportunity to share written information pertaining to their child’s learning needs. This form will be available to parents until April 4th, 2024. The link is located below and is listed on our school website. There are a few guidelines below that we are asking you follow.
Please DO NOT submit specific teacher names. We ask that learning characteristics of the child be the main focus of your request. Also, please understand the final placement is at the discretion of building administration.
If you choose to complete this form, an email will be sent directly to Mrs. Dupuis, Principal and Mr. Krause, Assistant Principal for the 25-26 school year. Mrs. Dupuis and Mr. Krause will review the documents when working with teachers to place students into classrooms.
Ramadan
At Spring Trail, we value diversity and the opportunity to learn from one another. As Ramadan has begun, our students have been learning about its significance and traditions. We also want to encourage those who celebrate to share their experiences with the class, helping us all gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of this special time.
If your child would like to share about their Ramadan traditions, please let us know because we’d love to celebrate and learn together!

Attendance Incentive
We’re at it again! Our school-wide Attendance Goal is back in action until Spring Break! Right now, our year-to-date attendance is 94.7%, which means we’re in the watch zone, but we know we can do better! Let’s work together to boost our attendance back up to 97%!
From February 24 to March 24, students who show up every day, on time (8:30 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday-Friday) will automatically be entered into a weekly raffle for an AWESOME REWARD! 🎟️ The more you show up, the more chances you have to win!
Remember: Stay healthy, wash those hands, and be here every day, because showing up means winning in learning AND possibly scoring a cool prize!
Let’s do this, Spring Trail! 💪🏽✨
