MUSKRAT NEWSLETTER
June 2024
Happy Almost Summer Muskrats!!
With only 3 Mondays left, we are looking forward to wrapping up this school year in STYLE! The kids and staff have worked so hard, and grown so much it is definitely time to celebrate. Keep an eye out on Dojo for details of our last few events - you won't want to miss them!
We are also making preparations to transition the students to their new grade levels which can bring on some anxiety. That includes a Step-UP day, some cross-grade activities, and getting registration packets out. If you - or your sweeties - have any questions about next year, please reach out to teachers or Brooke and we will try to find answers for you...
Enjoy the weather and the last couple weeks of school!

Every auction winner will have an opportunity to choose one new feathery friend, what you are bidding on is the ORDER IN WHICH THEY WILL BE CHOSEN. If you win the "FIRST CHOICE CHOOSER" listing, you will choose first from our flock, SECOND will choose second, and so on. Auction Open June 3rd @ 8am; Closes June 12th @ 8pm.
Jog-a-Thon -- June 7th
Jog-A-Thon is a "fun run" organized by Muddy Creek PTO and staff to raise money for enrichment activities. This event encourages students to be physically active and allows them to take part in their school community. Kids can collect pledges from friends and family, run or dance their hearts out on the track, then return their donations to their teacher by June 14th. Thanks for helping with our last FUNdraiser of the year!!
Annual Giving Campaign
This has been a great month and a great year for fundraising at Muddy Creek! The plant sale ALONE brought in $3,180 and combined with our Dine-out, Spring Showcase & Movie concessions, and parent contributions we have brought our fundrising total to $15,103 so far this school year! Thank you to all the families who help bridge our funding gap!!!

Shout-Outs
Art in the Garden
Ms. Karen took the students out to the garden for an "Observational Art" day. They chose from multiple mediums (watercolor, crayon, colored pencil) and subjects (chickens, plants, insects). Extra Shout-out to Kalesh, Fae, and Suzy for helping create such a welcoming and beautiful space...
Business is Booming in 3rd!
The 3rd graders are developing their financial literacy and money math skills, so they were asked to create a "storefront" with goods/services they could market to their peers (and curious passers-by). They borrowed money from The Bank of Blanchard and opened up for business!
Kinders in the Wild!
Future in Forestry
Fourth grade has been researching careers in Forestry this month. They visited Starker Forest along with 3rd grade, and were inspired to learn more about opportunities in this field. They are preparing reports and presentations on being a Logger, Scientist, Planter, and Forester.
Pond Study in 1st Grade
The first graders are embracing spring with their pond and poetry study! They have been exploring aquatic life from cattails to tadpoles. They have already completed their Diamante poems and a SPRING acrostic poem. They also visited Alsea Falls to see spring up close in person.
5th Grade Summit
In preparation for the annual 4-H Wildlife Summit last month, the 5th graders have learned about Oregon Wildlife. They chose teams and topics to researched, they developed google slides and prepared presentations. For a fun time ask a 5th grader about Crows and/or Invasive plants!
