News & Announcements
CV Elementary Schools earn Common Sense Schools Recognition
We are #CVproud to share that all of our elementary schools have earned Common Sense Education's Common Sense Schools recognition.
Common Sense Education assists districts in preparing students for success in a connected world through a variety of digital citizenship lessons and strives to help students balance their digital media use. The Common Sense Schools recognition is a symbol of our dedication and commitment to helping students think critically and use technology responsibly to learn, create, and participate.
Our secondary schools will work toward this recognition in the 2023-24 school year.
In-House Athletic Physicals
Attention parents/guardians of rising 7th- through 12th-grade student athletes: Cumberland Valley School District together with Orthopaedic & Spine Specialists (OSS) will hold in-house physicals on June 7 and June 8, 2023, for athletes participating in sports during the 2023-2024 season. Please click here to learn more, including times, locations, and physical/screening requirements.
PRISM Club Hosts STEM Career Fair
The PRISM Club at Mountain View Middle School recently hosted its first-ever career fair, which featured a collection of student-made presentations that put a spotlight on their favorite STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.
The PRISM club was the vision of two current juniors - Shreya Satheesh and Sri Koneru – who were inspired by internships they each held within the tech field. Those experiences led them to start the club – with support from Faculty Advisor Brooke DeMarco – for middle school girls at Mountain View. The club has since expanded, and is now being introduced as an Eagle Foundation Camp this summer (PRISM STEM: Summer Immersive Experience).

Portrait of an Eagle: Student Spotlight
Our Eagles Boys' Soccer program demonstrated empathy and responsibility when they came together earlier this week to stock water bottles for Radiant Hope. The group collected small personal hygiene items and gift cards to fill water bottles to be given out at Oncology centers throughout the community, with a mission to brighten cancer patients lives. They are a Portrait of an Eagle!
Special thanks to Sophomore PJ Mashinski for organizing this event, and to Radiant Hope and CV soccer families for helping in the collection process.

Additional Reminders
Reminder: Change to Start/End Times for Eastern Elementary Schools
District administration has been working over the past year to identify ways to return our eastern elementary schools to an earlier start time. With the identification of an additional transportation service and new drivers, we believe we are able to move Hampden, Shaull, Sporting Hill, and Winding Creek Elementary schools back to a 9:15 a.m. start time, with an end time of 3:55 p.m., beginning next school year.
Please click the Quick Access link below to view the anticipated 2023-24 instructional day schedule by building for each school across the district. (NOTE: Hours in which the building is physically open and students are permitted to enter for the start of the day vary by building.)

Reminder: Revised 2023-2024 Academic Calendar
The Board of School Directors approved an administrative recommendation to adopt a revised 2023-2024 academic calendar. The sole change to the previously-adopted calendar is that the in-service date in April is now scheduled for April 10, 2024. You may click the "Quick Access: Instructional Calendars" link above to view next year's calendar.
Our growing population of students includes a larger number of Muslim families, many of whom have requested that the district consider having no school on Eid (the Muslim festival marking the end of the fast of Ramadan). Given that we already had an in-service day scheduled for April, we made the decision to move that date to April 10, 2024, so that our Muslim families may celebrate Eid.
We appreciate your understanding and support of our growing and diverse school community.
