Thank you for the great parent support last week at Parent Teacher Conferences. If you couldn't attend but have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact our office. As we venture into the second marking period, our unwavering commitment to learning remains our top priority. Our students are actively engaged in a wide range of subjects, from crafting narratives and exploring poetry to delving into novels and tackling mathematical equations, including scale, area, and volume. Students are thinking like scientists and historians as they determine if sources are reliable. They're flexing their creative muscles in art and music, and finding ways to care for their bodies by a nutrition unit and physical fitness in PE class.

I continue to be proud of the work our students, teachers, and all of our support staff are doing on a regular basis to ensure your child is cared for and accountable for their personal learning. As we finish up the month of October, I also want to remind you of the importance of regular attendance. As always, thank you for working together with us to educate your child. We would like to invite you to our annual Lights On After School Event tomorrow Thursday, October 26th from 3:30PM till 5:20 PM.

This day gives us an opportunity to share with staff, family members and students what a day at T.E.A.M 21 is like, and gather to celebrate the season!

Our T.E.A.M 21 staff will speak about the challenges afterschool programs are facing and the benefits they provide to the children, families and community as whole. Please help spread the word! We would truly appreciate it and hope to see you all there.

Cheer practices are Monday - Thursday 3:30-5:30; today (10/25) practice is 1:30-2:30. Students meet on the blacktop and walk to the high school together with the coaches. Parent pick-up is at the high school. Tomorrow, Thursday October 26, will be the last day to join. Physicals and athletic clothing is mandatory for practice. Anyone without a physical is encourage to come and watch.

Practices are 3-4:30 Monday - Friday in the Middle School Gym.

We are doing a special orange and black dress up for Halloween on Tuesday Oct. 31st. Students are encouraged to show school spirit by dressing in orange and black. No masks, costumes, or face paint should be worn as it distracts from the learning on this day.

Popcorn Friday's will be starting on Friday, Nov. 3rd $0.50 per bag. Popcorn must be eaten in the lunch room area or stapled and placed in bags until you leave the building after school.

• If students have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, they are asked to go home.

• If students or staff are COVID positive and asymptomatic or well enough to return to school (No fever for 24 hours), a well-fitting mask is encouraged. Nothing is required.

• If your child tests positive, please notify the building office. We are still required by health code to report positive cases as a communicable disease.

We have free COVID tests in the office, available for all interested staff and parents.

On November 3rd we are hosting Dana Vanderlugt, author of "Enemies in the Orchard", a new book inspired by the little-known history of POW labor camps in the United States.

Set in the backdrop of World War II, this middle-grade novel in verse is told in first person poems and features Claire, a Midwestern girl who longs to enter high school and become a nurse even as she worries for her soldier brother, and Karl, a German prisoner of war who is processing the war as he works on Claire's family farm. Against a vivid backdrop of home front tensions and daily life, intimate entries reveal their hopes and struggles, and their growing friendship even as the war rages on. What are their chances of connection, of redemption, of peace?
