#bettertogether
Last March when the Covid-19 pandemic began, our school starting using the #bettertogether hashtag to encourage everyone to work together and help one another as we navigated unprecedented times. I have been so proud of our students, families, and staff who have exemplified these behaviors every day. I have witnessed students helping other students, such as our Ambassadors scheduling time to meet with her "buddies", families offering to donate food or clothing items for others who are in need, and staff who go above and beyond each and every day to ensure our students are getting what they need. It has been a challenging time in our lives that has brought out the best in our school community.
In an effort to continue sparking connection within our community, I would like to start a weekly #bettertogether "challenge" based on some cards I received as a gift. Each week, I will share a suggested activity in hopes that students, families, and staff will participate as they see fit.
This week's challenge is to Hand Out Compliments.
- Write some kind words on a sticky notes and leave behind whenever the inspiration strikes (on mirrors in public bathrooms, in the produce section at the grocery store, on bus seats, in tip jars, etc). Have fun imagining who will find them!
- Send someone a quick message or text thanking them for something they helped you with.
- What ideas can you share to help others with this challenge?
If you feel like sharing the fun on social media, please tag @GBAPSJohnDewey with the hashtags #jdalPRIDE and #bettertogether.
Thanks for choosing to be a dragon!
With gratitude, Jen + the JDAL Staff
#jdalPRIDE = Passion - Rigor - Independence - Determination - Excellence
