Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
As spring approaches, Ohio lawmakers will begin working on the state budget and setting spending priorities for the next two years. This will be a critically important time when decisions are made about funding public schools, including Loveland City School District.
Our community has made it clear they want district leadership to advocate for solutions to Loveland’s unique state funding challenges, and we have taken on that task. Last year, we formed a State School Funding Committee of a few dozen community members and brainstormed solutions to help our district’s financial bottom line. We’ve also met with local lawmakers to let them know our district’s priorities.
In the next few weeks, we’ll hold another meeting of our State School Funding Committee. We will share more information with the Committee and ramp up our efforts to contact lawmakers during this critical budgeting time. We would love to have more people join our lobbying effort. It’s important that lawmakers know our community is invested in securing appropriate funding for the Loveland City School District. If you’d like to join the State School Funding Committee, please email me at mikebroadwater@lovelandschools.org.

Treasurer’s Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
The Treasurer’s Office has been hard at work the past several weeks working on gathering information and submitting grant applications for various projects. I am very excited to be working to find additional, alternative ways of funding our current, and potentially future, endeavors that directly impact the students of Loveland City Schools.
We are also working on gearing up for budgeting for next school year. This budget helps inform and update the Five Year Forecast, and helps us to best plan on how we can provide a high quality education while being fiscally responsible.
As Mr. Broadwater mentioned, the general assembly is currently evaluating current and future school funding. There are many opinions and potential options for what funding for public schools may look like beginning for next school year. We look forward to detailing this and providing context with the School Funding Committee in the near future. That said, I will be briefing the Board of Education at the next business meeting on February 18 by highlighting some of the potential changes and their effect on Loveland City Schools’ bottom line. With this information, I hope to better inform the Board of Education and the community on the needed advocacy for a plan that is advantageous for Loveland City Schools.
As always, I am continuing to look for ways to educate our entire community on school finance and particularly how it affects our Loveland community. If you have suggestions or questions, please reach out to me at espyjo@lovelandschools.org. Stay well, and I look forward to continuing to find the best way to serve the schools and our community.
Go Tigers!

Steve Kenyon Outdoor Memorial Classroom
Students and staff at Loveland High School are working on a new and exciting project - the Steve Kenyon Outdoor Memorial Classroom. This project will honor Loveland math teacher and coach Steve Kenyon, who died suddenly last year, and create a lasting legacy on the LHS campus.
Steve Kenyon was a Loveland graduate, teacher, and coach who had an immeasurable impact on Loveland High School and our entire Loveland community. The Steve Kenyon Outdoor Memorial Classroom will be a lasting tribute to his love of teaching, the outdoors, and sports by creating a versatile outdoor learning space available for all students at Loveland High School.
The space will allow students to recharge outdoors in a calming space and bring greater enthusiasm for their classwork. This project has been envisioned by students on the Loveland High School Green Team and in Tigers Inc., with the support and encouragement of the Kenyon family and the backing of the Loveland Schools Foundation.
The Steve Kenyon Outdoor Memorial Classroom will be almost entirely community-funded, and donations of any amount are appreciated. You can follow this link to donate, and if you have any questions about the project, please contact Tigers Inc. teacher Craig Murnan at murnancr@lovelandschools.org or LHS Green Team teacher Tonya Nkhata at nkhatato@lovelandschools.org.
