The Fall NWEA-MAP Student Progress Reports have been posted and are available in Mi-Star and on Parent Connect for families to view. Please take a moment to log into your Parent Connect and view your student's scores.

If you need your Parent Connection Information please reach out to me and I am happy to send that to you.

For any family that did not send your student in for testing please be on the lookout for a letter from me regarding next steps for testing or returning to in-person learning.

The William D. Ford Career Tech. Center has invited our 8th graders to visit during the school day on Thursday, October 24th. Our eighth grade students will be transported via school bus to and from Adams to the Career Tech Center. During this time, our eighth graders will get the opportunity to explore different programs offered at Career Tech Center.

If you are interested in having your 8th grader visit the Career Tech Center let me know and I will connect your student with a middle school to attend with. Students would need to have transportation to and home from Career Tech.

We just received another delivery of non-perishable food for our pantry. If you or someone you know could benefit from some extra food or hygiene items please call the office or stop in to visit the pantry!

If you had your picture taken at WWIA, proofs and IDs have arrived. You can pick up your picture envelope at WWIA - 5400 Fourth Street, Wayne, 48184, anytime 7am-2:50pm Monday - Friday.

Retake/Second picture opportunity will be Friday, November 15th from 8:30-11:00am.

Calling all 4th and 5th grade girls. If you are interested in playing basketball click on the link below. There will be practice once weekly and games on five Saturdays in November and December.

Please read this message from Acting Superintendent Jennifer Curry with information regarding the Wayne County Enhancement Millage that will be on the November 5th ballot.

Are you interested in learning more about college and trade school opportunities available to you? WWIA has scheduled reps from various universities and trade schools to come in to talk with students about their organization and options for higher learning. All virtual high school students are welcome to attend either in-person or virtually.

If there is a school/organization you are interested in attending please complete the appropriate link.

For the question that asks who your teacher of that hour is put SWANSON. That will alert the presenter that you are a virtual student and I will send you a calendar invite so that if you cannot attend in person you will have a google meets link to listen and participate.

ATTENTION SENIORS:

October is free college application month. Students can apply to any Michigan college/university and the application fee is waived in October. For more information on how to apply to post-secondary learning please reach out to your school counselor (Mr. Booker or Ms. Horgan) or Miss Cheyanne, our College and Career Readiness Advisor - BerryC@wwcsd.net.

The Michigan Achievement Scholarship is designed to help students pursue their dreams, goals, and aspirations in the Mitten State. Graduating high school seniors may be eligible for up to $27,500 over five years in financial aid just by filling out the new and simplified FAFSA

Wayne-Westland Community Schools is proud to continue participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2024-2025 school year as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. This ensures that ALL enrolled students receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE to your household!

To help us maintain this program, we ask parents and guardians to complete and sign the Education Benefits Form (available on the Meal Magic Family Portal) and return it to your child's school as soon as possible. Please note: the information is used for administrative purposes, not to determine eligibility.

This form is crucial for your child's school to receive important funding from state and federal programs like Title I A, At-Risk (31a), and more. Your help makes a big difference!

For all 6th - 12th grade students please make sure to check your email on Wednesday for an email from either Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Nosakowski, or Mr. Mason. Remember to answer that google form on Wednesday and look for the response from your mentor teacher later in the week.

Weekly two-way communications with your mentor teacher are a requirement of the program.

For those interested in playing sports or participating in clubs at their school of residence I will include links to the middle and high school newsletters as they become available. If you are not sure what would be your school would be you can look it up at LOCATE MY SCHOOL

Some schools may not yet have a newsletter out to families. I will add and update schools as they become available.

After completing the orientation and when logging into your Graduation Alliance Account remember the following:

• Make sure you are logged into the computer with your school Google email and password.
• Website: app.gradally.com
• Click on Login with Google
• Choose your class to work on. You can work on one class at a time until completion or the set week's lessons in each class.
• Look at and watch the Target End Date. All lessons MUST be completed with a 60% or higher before that target end date.

Family Resource Center

Wayne-Westland Community Schools has a Family Resource Center (FRC), offering free services to all students and families within our district. Among the services provided are basic needs assistance, access to over 700 local resources, and a Laundry Assistance Program. Additionally, the FRC offers essential items, such as emergency toiletries, socks, underwear, hats, gloves, and scarves, to those in need. School supplies and backpacks are also available year-round for any district student.

Both cities of Westland and Wayne offer programming to support youth and their families struggling with challenging and/or negative youth behaviors, truancy issues and more. Some of the services offered through their programs include, but are not limited to: youth support groups, parent support, case management, referrals and more. Exact services will vary by program.
