The WJHS Panther Update
Sept. 16, 2022
Principal's Letter
Panther Families,
Our first Principal Coffee and PTO Meeting was on Wednesday evening. Thank you to those who attended. Your support of WJHS is vital to maintaining and enhancing our culture. We appreciate you, and, of course, it was great chatting with all of you!
In the meeting, I discussed my three Core Commitments to your students, our staff, and our school community. I think it's important to share those with our entire community as well.
In addition to our focus on student achievement, my commitments to social-emotional development are:
1. Relationships - Cultivating and fostering relationships between students, staff, and the community.
2. Self and Collective Efficacy - Developing students' belief in their own abilities to overcome obstacles and instill personal responsibility, while silmutaneously building our staff and students ' belief that they can make a difference and achieve together.
3. Joy - Bringing back the joy in our school day through relationship building and activities that appeal to both students and staff.
As an educator and leader, my commitments have morphed through the years. After coming back to school in an in-person fashion and having time to better understand what our students and staff need to thrive, these are the three Core Commitments I am focusing on in the upcoming years.
Homecoming Float - WJHS would like to have a float in the upcoming Homecoming Parade (Thur., Oct. 6 at 6pm), and we're in need of a truck and flatbed. Would any of our families with a truck and/or flatbed be willing to help us? Email me at aquattrone@cusd201.org.

From the Superintendent, Mr. Carey - Parents should keep children with COVID-19 symptoms at home. The District will be following the CDC Guidance for Schools. Students who test positive for COVID-19 will need to quarantine for five days. A student can return to school on the sixth day but will be required to wear a mask until day ten.
Covid Testing - The District will be providing free COVID-19 testing every Monday. The testing is optional. Please use this link (CUSD 201 COVID-19 testing) if you wish to enroll your child for testing.
