Buckaroo Bulletin
March 2025
Dear Buckaroo Families,
March is shaping up to be a big one—We have a packed calendar filled with exciting events and learning opportunities for our students!
We started right out of the gate, yesterday as our Robotics team headed to Paul Taylor Fieldhouse to compete. These students have invested countless hours in preparation, and we are so proud of their efforts! On March 7, we’ll be celebrating Field Day—always a favorite! We’re hoping for a beautiful day to enjoy the activities. That day also marks the end of the third grading period, so let’s finish strong, Buckaroos!
Spring Break will be March 10-14 and is your time to recharge, slow down, and soak up some family time. Whether you're traveling or just enjoying a break from the daily grind, I hope it’s a good one. We’ll be back at it on March 17th, ready to tackle the rest of the school year!
After the break, we’ve got some fantastic field trips lined up—our third graders are heading to Sea World, and our GT students will dive into the arts at the San Antonio Museum of Art. We’ll also be celebrating our Educator of the Year and capping off the month with our much anticipated Barn Dance.
Report cards for the third grading period will be live in HAC after 4 p.m. on March 21st. Be sure to check out the "Mark Your Calendar" section of the newsletter for more events and details!
Looking forward to an incredible month of March at Bob Beard!

Beyond the Bell:
Buckaroos Shining Outside of School!
At Beard Elementary, we love celebrating our students' achievements both in and out of the classroom! Our Buckaroos are doing amazing things beyond school, and we want to highlight their talents, passions, and accomplishments.
Whether it's sports, the arts, community service, or unique hobbies, we want to hear about it! If your child has a story, photo, or special moment you'd like to share, please email me at joshua.kuhlmann@nisd.net. Let's celebrate the incredible things our Buckaroos are achieving outside of school!
We’re kicking off this new section of our monthly newsletter with a big shoutout to Ms. Scarlett in ECC, who recently took first place in her age group at the San Antonio Rodeo for mutton bustin'!
Here are a few impressive stats from her run:
- She beat out over 20 other kids
- Scored 10 points higher than the 2nd place winner
- Went the distance of the arena before falling
- Was the youngest of the age group of 4-7
- Although she cried after falling (in true Scarlett fashion) she did us proud and we dubbed her the Sheep Queen.
We can’t wait to feature more of our amazing students—so keep those stories coming!

Fourth Graders Impress with Performance and Living Museum!
Big shoutout to our fourth graders and their teachers for putting on a fantastic performance at their town meeting on Friday! Their hard work and practice truly shined, and their magnificent performance was only made better by the incredible living museum that followed. Students brought history to life by embodying influential figures like Kobe Bryant, Albert Einstein, and Amelia Earhart. We are so proud of our fourth graders for their creativity, confidence, and commitment to making this morning a success!

Shining Stars at the Special Olympics!
We are incredibly proud of our Buckaroos, Suzie and Harlem, for representing Beard Elementary at the Special Olympics on February 24! They gave it their all, showcased their amazing abilities, and made our school community so proud.
Suzie and Harlem, your dedication and spirit remind us all of the power of perseverance and joy in competition. Congratulations on this incredible achievement—we are cheering you on every step of the way! 🎉👏
Kinetic Kids: Discovering Disabilities Day
On Friday, February 20, we had the pleasure of hosting Kinetic Kids at Beard Elementary for our Discovering Disabilities Day. Kinetic Kids is a local organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs through sports, fine arts, and educational programs.
During the event, our students participated in interactive experiences designed to foster empathy and understanding. Through these activities, they gained a deeper awareness of the challenges individuals with disabilities may encounter in their daily lives. This hands-on approach encouraged meaningful reflection and reinforced the importance of inclusivity and accessibility.
This event left a lasting impression on our students, helping them develop a greater appreciation for inclusivity and the importance of creating an environment where everyone feels valued. We are grateful to Kinetic Kids for facilitating such a meaningful experience and look forward to future collaborations that continue to educate and inspire our community.

Attention Parents of Future Garcia Middle School Sixth Graders!
We’re excited to introduce the ACE Afterschool Program, a new middle school program for the 2025-2026 school year. Formerly known as Club LT, ACE Afterschool will be available at Garcia Middle School, along with several other middle schools in the district.
What is ACE Afterschool?
ACE Afterschool offers a rotating schedule of engaging clubs, including culinary, technology, sports, and fine arts. Families have the flexibility to enroll for the entire school year or select specific clubs that interest their child. The program runs every school day until 6:00 PM, and transportation will be provided to students' feeder elementary schools.
To help our future sixth graders learn more about this exciting opportunity, we invite families to attend Explore ACE, an event hosted at Garcia Middle School. Stay tuned for more details!
We look forward to providing your child with a fun, enriching, and supportive middle school experience.
