Principal’s Message
November 2024
As we look toward the start of November, our days are slowly getting cooler and the days are getting shorter. It is hard to believe we will soon begin the conversation and focus on getting organized for Christmas!
We have had several key events in our school more recently and will have a few more as we move towards the fall break. Last week, we celebrated School Bus Safety Week in Alberta. Our students watched some videos in regards to school bus safety and had some discussion about them in their classrooms with their teachers. In addition, all of our students took part in a bus evacuation drill on Friday, Oct. 25. We value safety and want our students to be prepared in the case of an emergency. Following these drills, our gr. 7-12 students traveled to Daysland School where they listened to a motivational speaker (Ian Tyson). The costs of the speaker and our bus costs were all covered due to the generosity of Flagstaff County. Our school also held parent/teacher interviews last week. We appreciate your efforts as parents to be engaged in your child’s education and wish to work with you to ensure a quality education. I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers at any time should you have any questions or concerns. It is the collective effort of both home and school that can make a significant contribution to ensuring we are able to effectively meet the needs of each child.
As we look ahead, I would like to draw your attention to a few key events. Our gr. 9 students will participate in Take Your Kids to Work Day on Wed., Nov. 6. This is a unique opportunity for these students to experience what a day of work in the ‘real world’ will look like and has proven to be very valuable for students. We will host our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony on Friday, November 8 @ 10:30 am. This year, we are inviting students and families to participate in a Candle Lighting Ceremony where families have the opportunity to publicly recognize family members who have served our country. Please contact our school office if you have any questions.
As we move forward, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you as parents for all your hard work and dedication to working with your child to ensure they are able to be successful students at school. I am a firm believer that the combined efforts of both staff and parents can have a significant impact on the success of a child. At any time in the school year, I encourage parents to work with their child’s teachers to ensure needs are being met. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I wish everyone a wonderful fall break and look forward to working with you and your children as we move forward.
Upcoming Events:
Wed., Nov. 6 - Take Your Kids to Work Day (Gr. 9)
Fri., Nov. 8 - Remembrance Day Ceremony
