Based on feedback we have received from our parents, we are pleased to share that the GT PAC will be hosting a Teams event for ALL GT parents directly before the regular GT PAC meetings each month. This live event will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams and will be structured as an "Information Download."

It will be during this time (6:30 - 7:00pm) that FBISD parents may join in to hear updates from the GT PAC and GT Department each month. After this live event, GT PAC members will meet for their regularly scheduled monthly closed meeting.

If you are interested in joining the GT PAC, please take a moment to complete the 2022-23 GT PAC Interest Form. The GT PAC provides parents of gifted students the opportunity to serve as liaisons between the GT PAC and their school community. In addition, GT PAC members’ offers feedback related to GT programming. The GT PAC meets every second Wednesday of the month. The skills needed to develop emotional regulation can be developed over time with guidance and compassion from parents. Expert Emily Kircher-Morris will break down the 4-step process of emotional regulation so we can help our kids who are "a little bit extra" find healthy ways to manage their emotions.

GT students are developing academic and social/emotional goals to demonstrate student ownership of learning. During the first three weeks of September (1st-20th), students will develop goals and identify their action steps (if needed) to reach their goals. Parents are asked to discuss the student’s goals and provide input to their student during the week of September 19-26. Here are a few questions that may be helpful to ask your student and support their progress toward developing their goals:

• What’s something you wish you could achieve in school?
• What do you think is the greatest benefit to you with the goal(s) you created?
• What actions should you take weekly toward achieving your goal?

The fall screening window is open until Friday, September 30, 2022. Students eligible for referral are currently enrolled students in FBISD grades 1-11 who are not identified for gifted and talented services in any area. Referrals may be made through the "Fall Testing Referrals" button below.

COGS (Champions of Gifted Services) are campus-based personnel designated to serve as liaisons between the campus and District GT Department, as well as between the campus and the campus' GT community. After the classroom teacher, the COGS is the next point of contact regarding GT questions at the campus level. Find your campus COGS by clicking on the button below.

All students identified for gifted and talented services have been auto-enrolled in campus-based Schoology courses. These courses are used for campus-specific GT messaging and are managed by the campus COGS.
