Dr. Sherp's Update
Good day Fox High Families:
As Thanksgiving approaches, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a happy and safe holiday. I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing Fox High community. Our students, families, and staff make this such a special place, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
I hope you get a chance to relax, enjoy some good food, and spend time with the people who matter most to you. Whether you’re staying close to home or traveling, please take care and stay safe.
Looking forward to seeing everyone back after the break, ready to tackle the rest of the semester!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I have previously shared the critical connection between Grade Point Average (GPA) and daily attendance. Consistent attendance plays a key role in academic success and helps ensure students stay on track for graduation and beyond. A strong attendance rate is considered 95% or better, while anything below 90%—missing 1 out of every 10 school days—is deemed insufficient.
Below are the current overall attendance rates for each grade level:
- 9th Grade: 90.46%
- 10th Grade: 89.52%
- 11th Grade: 91.05%
- 12th Grade: 91.75%
These numbers show there is room for improvement. As a school community, we must strive to meet and exceed the 95% attendance benchmark. Regular attendance benefits not only academic performance but also engagement and participation in school life.
To encourage improvement, we are currently discussing measures to be implemented starting in the 2nd semester. These measures will include a closer connection between maintaining a 90% attendance rate or better and eligibility to participate in school’s special events.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make attendance a priority. Let’s commit to helping every student reach their full potential!
Here a look at the past week and a half:
The Play-Tuck Everlasting-The play was a big success, with strong performances and an amazing set. The actors/actresses and set crew all did a spectacular job. I enjoyed the show immensely.
ESpoprts-The Fox Esports Rocket League Team 2 defeated Lee's Summit North 3-0 in the quarter finals of the Missouri Scholastic Esports Federation's Fall Brawl. Jacob Bellew (11), Teegan Huey (11), and Ronan Parmeley (9) will be traveling to Piccadilly Palace in Union, Missouri on December 7, 2024. They will face Republic High School in the next round and hope to move on to the finals to battle either Lindbergh High School or St. Dominic High School for the Class 2 title. Matches will be streamed on MOSEF's Twitch page: https://www.twitch.tv/moseforg.

Webster University -Beginnings 2024: Juried High School Photography-We are thrilled to announce that Karson Emmons (11th) is the first student from our school to have her artwork selected for display in the prestigious Kooyumjian Gallery at Webster University!
This incredible achievement comes as part of a highly competitive process, with over 500 entries of original photographic works submitted by students from 31 area high schools. The competition was juried by Webster University Professors Michael Long and Natalia Kaniasty, making Karson’s selection even more remarkable.
Karson will represent us at the gallery’s opening reception and participate in a gallery walk and talk in early December.
Congratulations, Karson we are proud of your hard work, creativity, and dedication to excellence. WAY TO GO, KARSON!
