Kott's Korner
Thank you to the families that were able to join us for our Veterans Day Assembly! Again this year, our assembly included the Presentation of Colors, singing Patriotic songs and personally thanking the Veterans in attendance for their service. Thank you to Mr. Roenicke for arranging this wonderful experience for our students and our community.
Have you talked to your child about the leadership they show everyday at school? Be sure to ask them about their classroom leader job or school wide leadership job. We are also honoring students that are following our School-Wide PBIS Expectations. Ask your child if they have received a red ticket.
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I can’t help but reflect on how grateful I am to be the Principal at Davisburg Elementary. I am thankful to have such awesome students, staff and families to work with every day. As always, I appreciate the partnerships we share and the opportunity to be part of your child’s educational experience. Happy Thanksgiving!
Truly,
Denise Kott

Christmas Assistance
Applications are now available from Holly Area Youth Assistance for the 2024 Jacobson-Quinn Toy Project. This Project has been an annual event in our community since 1982 when Dick Jacobson (a former HAS teacher) and Doug Quinn (a former HAYA social worker) started the program to ensure that every child in the Holly community receives a Christmas present. The program is funded by individuals, businesses, churches, and civic organizations who donate toys and/or money to this project.
This HAYA program is for qualifying youth who live within the geographic area of the Holly Area School District in Oakland County, Michigan. This project is on a financial need and a first come – first-serve basis as long as the supplies last. HAYA will do its best to service the qualified local families that apply.
If you need help this Christmas, please print the form below and return it to us at 14470 N. Holly Road, Holly MI 48442. You can also email your completed form to HAYA4kids63@gmail.com. If you are unable to print the form, you can contact the HAYA office at 248-328-3181 and leave a message, or pick one up from your school office. We do our best to ensure confidentiality. You will be contacted to schedule a pick up time on December 15th.
The DEADLINE TO APPLY Is Monday, December 2nd!
Merry Christmas from all of us at HAYA!!

Self Awareness
Self Awareness is knowing what we are feeling and why. Identifying feelings and emotions can be difficult for many students. At Davisburg, we use the Zones of Regulation to help students to think and talk about how they are feeling. The Zones of Regulation sorts emotions into four different colored zones: blue, green, yellow and red. Once a student can identify the zone, they can often identify how their brain and body are feeling. Through specific strategies, the skill of self regulation (last month’s focus), can be used to ensure students are ready to learn.
