Keep on Hand: Handbook and Other Items
The West Bend School District Student and Family Handbook 2024-2025 includes detailed information on a variety of topics. Take a look and keep the link handy. Valuable supplemental documents are also available:
- Safety Reminders: The West Bend Schools uses a Standard Response Protocol for school safety and emergencies. It is helpful to family members to be aware of the protocol’s common language, such as what a “hold” means. Please keep this document on hand.
- Effective Communication: Knowing who to contact with questions and other issues helps to save time and effort. Please use this effective communication document to get questions answered.
- Important Contacts: Important phone numbers and contact information of schools, district staff, or board members is available.
Welcome to New Staff
The West Bend Schools will have some new teachers and other staff this school year to support our students. In addition, a number of current staff have moved to other schools in the district. Check out the list.
Complete Back to School Registration and Pay Fees
Thank you to everyone who has completed back-to-school registration! This very important task helps to establish a smooth start to the school year. If you have not completed registration in Skyward, use these instructions as soon as possible.
Part of back-to-school registration is payment of an annual registration fee for all students. This fee helps offset the costs of various educational materials and services provided to students throughout the school year. These fees are used to cover textbooks, workbooks, technology resources (including student device insurance), classroom supplies, art supplies, and physical education equipment. Review the handbook on page 14 for a list of fees.
The West Bend School Board reviews and takes action on fees annually. Prior to the 23-24 school year, the board voted to remove several fees to not only reduce the total charge, but also simplify the process for families. The Chromebook insurance fee has been integrated into overall instructional fees. Locker padlock fees at Badger and Silverbrook, and 10 separate class supply fees at the high schools, have been eliminated.
Options are available for any family experiencing financial hardship. Please contact the WBSD business office at 262-335-6193 to set up a payment plan. Families eligible for free or reduced lunch can also complete a student costs waiver form to request a waiver of fees.
Fall High School Athletics Schedules
Get out to East and West High Schools to check out the fall athletics. Review the detailed schedules for:
If your family attends multiple events, a family pass is the best option to save on tickets. They can be purchased by contacting the East and West Athletic Departments.
Event tickets must be purchased with a debit or credit card either at the gate/door or prior to the event on the GoFan website or app (EAST GoFan website) (WEST and co-op teams GoFan website). Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children, students are free with a school ID, and senior citizens are free.
Construction Textbook Review
The East and West High Schools Technology and Engineering Department has recommended the purchase of two new Career Connections textbooks to support the high school construction courses. The textbooks provide students information on safety, materials, construction systems, residential construction, and commercial construction techniques, along with the ability to test and earn industry-recognized certifications. These materials will be available for review and feedback:
Education Service Center, 735 S. Main St., West Bend, from August 21 to August 28 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
West Bend Public Library, 630 Poplar St., West Bend, from August 29 to September 5 in normal operating hours
Appointments can be made outside of these hours by contacting Tim Harder, director of facilities and technology, at tharder@wbsd-schools.org or 262-335-5630.
