Disney Celebration Digest 2023-2024

Dear Disney Families,

As our summer begins, I would like to express how grateful I am to be leading such an amazing community of students, parents & staff. It has been an amazing year! I am so proud of all of the achievements and accomplishments of our students here at Disney Elementary. These would not be possible without your support and dedication.

Reflecting on the past school year, we have had so many great memories and exciting events to look back on. We continued many successful traditions such as our family nights, book fairs, rallies, The Color Run and many more heart felt memories. We also added many new experiences, which we will continue and make new traditions of such as Bingo night and Math Night and we will continue to explore what new and exciting things that we want to bring to Disney. Our students really enjoyed all of these activities.

Our year ended with wonderful award ceremonies filled with pride and celebration of student accomplishments. We are very proud of all of our students and their successes.

We are always focused on the improvement of our school in all aspects. We not only focus on the child’s academic level, but we continue to focus on the use of Conscious Discipline language and PBIS in the classroom. We will also continue with the goal of school improvement in the area of attendance. I have promised the students a school-wide party when we make 97% attendance for our building.

This summer, Explore will offer students exciting opportunities to pursue their unique interests and passions. Each day will they will learn, create, invent and discover through engaging learning opportunities, including free Artworks classes.

• Seated and virtual classes for K-8 students will be offered June 3-28. Virtual classes for grades 1-12 will also be offered July 8-Aug. 2.
• Students in grades 3 through 8 have the opportunity to enroll in free Artworks classes at three locations—Fremont and Sunshine elementary schools and Wilson’s Creek Intermediate School.
• Elementary students will attend Explore classes Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Middle school and K-8 students will attend from 8:20 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
• Registration for elementary students begins March 7.
• Registration for middle school students begins March 6.
• High school students may register for Explore classes beginning March 4.
• Register for Explore classes at www.sps.org/Explore.

August 1st: Class Lists Posted on Home Access

August 9th: KAPS (Kindergarten Assessment & Placement Screening) @ 8

August 16th: Meet the Teacher K:9-10am; 1st-5th 12:00-1:30 (Come & Go event)

August 19th: First Day of 2024-2025 School Year
