MES Weekly Scoop

Dear Marysville Elementary Families,

The first full week of MAY is here! We are down to the final three weeks of the school year! Let’s continue to encourage our students to stay focused and finish strong.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! While we celebrate our incredible educators every day, this week is dedicated to recognizing the dedication, passion, and hard work of teachers everywhere—especially our amazing MES staff. Please take a moment to thank your child's teacher!

Last week, students completed their spring FastBridge screenings. Results will be sent home with final report cards at the end of the year.

On Tuesday, May 6th, MES will host dental screenings. Please refer to the flyer attached below for more information.

It’s a busy week! Our grades 3–6 track meet is scheduled for Wednesday, beginning at 9:30 AM with field events. If you plan to take your child home after the track meet, please contact your child's teacher and you will need to sign them out prior to leaving the track. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Coach Brown at sbrown@usd364.org.

Marysville Elementary PTO says a HUGE THANK YOU for all the amazing families and individuals that supported them in the PONY UP Match Day!

Students may bring labeled water bottles, but they must contain only water—otherwise, a clear bottle will be required. Classroom teachers will share snack guidelines, but all snacks must be healthy (no chips, candy, or sugary treats). Gum is not allowed unless approved by staff. Breakfast is served daily starting at 7:30 AM, and students have a 25-minute lunch period. School provides balanced meals daily (except early release days), or students may bring simple, nutritious lunches from home—no food sharing or carbonated drinks. Meals and milk are charged to your child’s food service account; low balance notices will be sent home and by email. Free and reduced-price meals are available for those who qualify—applications are available at the school office or online at https://schoolmealsapp.ksde.org/Home/welcome/D0364. Meal prices: $3.10 for lunch (K–6) and $1.95 for breakfast.

SALAD options are coming back in APRIL!!!! We love providing our students options when it comes to healthy and nutritious foods. We always offer salad, fruits, and veggies daily, but the salad option will be returning!

As part of our commitment to supporting every student’s academic growth, Marysville Elementary will be conducting our Spring FastBridge Screenings for students in PreK through 6th grade THIS WEEK. These assessments are an important part of how we track progress, celebrate growth, and plan support for each child.

What is FastBridge?
FastBridge is a research-based assessment tool that measures important skills in reading, math, and social-emotional development. The screenings are quick (about 10–30 minutes depending on grade level) and provide valuable information on where your child is excelling and where they may need extra support.

Screening Dates:
🗓 April 28th-May 2nd, 2025

Areas Screened:

• PreK: Early reading and early math readiness

• K–1: Foundational skills in reading (like phonics) and early math concepts

• 2–6: Reading fluency, reading comprehension, math problem-solving, and basic math skills

Why is it important?
✅ Identifies student strengths
✅ Helps teachers plan instruction tailored to student needs
✅ Tracks student growth over the year
✅ Provides early intervention if needed
✅ Prepares students for success in the next grade

How can families support their children?

• Ensure your child gets plenty of rest the night before

• Encourage a healthy breakfast

• Remind them to do their best — it’s just one way we show what they’ve learned!

• Celebrate their effort and progress, no matter what!

When will results be shared?
If you have questions about your child's results, you are always welcome to reach out to their teacher or schedule a meeting.
