BEH Weekly Family Message
February 10th, 2025
Weekly Recap
Summary of the Week:
We also got the pleasure of seeing some snow in the sky while at school last week, which really got our students excited, then quickly disappointed when they realized that it didn't stick and they were not going home.
This week we are back for another five day week and are excited to keep the consistency in place. We will however be going into a three day weekend following this week due to President's Day on Monday, February 17th.
Updates from our PTA:
Fundraising Updates --
Bottle Drop -
The BEH PTA is officially registered with Oregon Bottle Drop and we made our first deposit on Saturday. We deposited over 1000 cans and bottles raising more than $100 for the PTA, that's not nothing. Thanks to everyone who already contributed to our fundraising efforts. If you would like a bottle drop bag to collect cans and bottles at home for the PTA, let me know. We will collect full bags at Literacy Night or any other arranged time.
Pies for Pi Day -
Tell you friends, tell your family-- We have PIES for sale! The pie pick update is March 14th, yes that date is 3.14. In some circles;) it has come to be known as Pi Day, celebrated with PIES.
Order Pies: https://behpies.myshopify.com
Pick up Pies: March 14th at 2:30, behind the school on the playground
Orders must be in by February 28th!
Did you see we are offering two prices? When you open the Shopify page you will see our "fundraising price" including our "no pie" $20 donation option. When you scroll down you will see the same pies with a reduced rate. We hope this makes Pies for Pi Day more than just a fundraiser and accessible to a range of budgets. Get the pie that is right for you!
Why does the PTA raise funds?
We aim to raise at least $10,000 each year. Our main expenses are supplementing the Winter Food Drive for BEH families and Teacher Appreciation Week. We have smaller expenses throughout the year including fees for Oregon and Federal PTA, and school events.
In the FUTURE
We hope to offer more BEH swag for sale at school events including tee-shirts for kids and adults, and sweatsuits for adults. We are also researching grants for larger one time expenses that will benefit the school.
Thank you for all of your support. We truly appreciate you!
Your BEH PTA

Partner & Community Info:
BPI Homework Support & Info Slide Deck:
Ms. Kayla wanted me to share her slide deck with families around Homework Support & Info. There are many links within the presentation to support families with work that students could be engaged in after school to support academic growth.
North Portland Library Back Open:
The Multnomah County Library Branch at 512 N Killingsworth reopened this weekend. This is an amazing free resource for getting your students (or yourself) access to all the books you want. Here is their website. There are often resources and info posted on the site as well.
Free Tutoring Options:
The Multnomah County Library is offering free Tutoring and other resources to support students academically outside of the school Day. Click on the link below to find out more: https://multcolib.org/community/free-online-tutoring-resources-students
Student Clubs:
Our new Student Council would like to work on adding weekly clubs to BEH and are interested in learning skills such as a second language, sports, photography, yearbook, etc. If you or a family member have a specific skill and some consistent weekly time that you could help teach/run a club, please let me know what club you would be interested in facilitating and if there is a regular day that could work right after school. If you have ideas or other thoughts around this, please share it with us. We would love to support our students' interests and provide some additional enrichment for them to learn some new skills after school moving forward.
