Message from School Leadership
Positive Astro Families:
We enjoyed celebrating the season of thankfulness with all of you. Our staff loved thankful Thursday and we appreciated each message submitted. Thank you! December is packed full of learning, winter fun, and joyful celebrations. During this busy season, we want to take a moment to pause and celebrate the season of giving. Our Lighthouse Teams have tasked us with community projects. Please be looking for letters coming home asking for donations to different community organizations that we’ve partnered up with during this holiday season. We have a desire to fill others with joy during this season of giving. Our annual Leadership Day is on December 11th. This is an early dismissal day for our students. Please join us for a morning filled with class rotations, goal setting, and student talent that is built here. See how we integrate the 7 Habits into our culture while maintaining high academic expectations. Then, talk with our student leaders about how we have focused on Giving Hands make Happy Hearts.
Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) mid-year assessments will take place the first and third week of December. Teachers will be communicating which days your student will be testing. Please make sure they take it seriously, have a good night’s rest, and eat a good healthy breakfast.
On December 13th, we host families for our Winter Fest. Our wonderful Chorus led by Mrs. Morrison delivers a wonderful holiday performance to our students in the morning. Then, in the evening we invite families to join us for Winter Fest! We start the evening off with the same holiday chorus concert. We move to pizza and pictures with Santa, we lay out paper on the tables for coloring, and we have board games. Also, during the evening your family can join the book fair, and even our PTO Elf Shelf! It is a night you don’t want to miss. We did have Student Led Conference scheduled for December 13th, but are moving that event to January. We’re doing this because our last scheduled conference day was moved back due to the hurricanes, so we’re planning to adjust all of them to make sure our students have updated data and goal setting to share. Be on the lookout for more information coming!y
Finally, we celebrate the end of the second quarter with a spirt week of dress up days and our Polar Express day on Friday, December 20, 2024! This valued tradition is loved by all. Students can come in their Pajamas and get to spend some time with classmates watching the favored Polar Express.
Thank you for all that you do!
