FROM the PRINCIPAL...
Dear Westbrook Families,
Next week we will start our winter benchmark assessments for kindergarteners and first graders. Students will work one-on-one with their teacher or a benchmarking team member to assess reading and math skills. Grade-level teams use assessment data to ensure core instruction meets the needs of our students. We identify students needing additional support through interventions and review progress toward grade-level academic goals in reading and math. The results of these assessments are for internal problem-solving. However, we will notify families if their child qualifies for a math or reading intervention.
We look forward to celebrating the winter season with a Westbrook Winter Wonderland Spirit Week from December 18th to the 21st. Please view the flyer below for more information.
We are also looking forward to celebrating the season with the Lincoln Middle School Show Choir who will perform at Westbrook on Wednesday, December 20th.
For your children,

Please walk WITH your child as they cross the bus lane and to the main entrance. We ask that you not allow you child to walk alone in the parking lot or cross the bus turnaround alone as this can be quite dangerous.
Please use the designated crosswalk when traveling to and from the parking lot. We discourage walking between buses for your safety.
Some of our students have apprehensions around animals, so we ask that dogs or other animals NOT be brought onto school property.
Reminders from the Office
- All visitors are required to ring the bell at door #1 and sign in with the office for security reasons.

- If your student takes the bus, please sign up for First Student's bus bulletin to be notified of route delays. www.BusBulletin.com/parents
Please be sure your student is prepared for recess. Hats, gloves, boots, snowpants, etc. We do have outdoor recess every day unless the feels like temperature is 15 degrees or below.
- Milk can be purchased for lunch daily. The cost is 50 cents. If you prefer not to send money daily, milk passes can also be purchased. Contact the office for the current cost of the pass. If you have already purchased a milk pass, please be sure your child is taking their milk. Lunch supervisors have informed the office that many students are refusing milk.
