Welcome Back Roadrunners!
Dear Roadrunner Families,
I am excited to begin this school year at Westwood Elementary School and to get to know you and your children! I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful summer with family and friends and that your children have been having a fun and fulfilling summer. Our staff eagerly anticipates welcoming your children back to school on Wednesday, August 21.
Please review the important information below to help create a successful start to the school year:
Classroom Teacher Information: On Monday, August 19, after 3 p.m., you will receive an email with your child's classroom teacher’s name. You can also log in to ParentVue on Tuesday, August 20, to verify this information. [Directions to view teacher information are linked here]. This email will contain important details specific to your child's classroom, so please review it thoroughly.
TK/K Orientation & Meet and Greet: For families with TK/K students, please join us on Tuesday, August 20, at 11:30 a.m. in the MPR for orientation, followed by a meet and greet in the classrooms.
New Student Orientation: New families are warmly invited to our New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 20, at 1:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with our school and meet the people who make it special. We look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant community!
Welcome Back PTA Popsicle Party: We are thrilled to invite everyone to our annual Welcome Back PTA Popsicle Party on Tuesday, August 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This event is a great opportunity for both new and returning families to connect. Enjoy interactive activities for children, refreshments, and a chance to tour the school. We encourage everyone to join us and special thanks to our wonderful Westwood PTA for organizing and providing the experience!
Back-to-School Night: Mark your calendars for Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August 22. The schedule by grade level is as follows:
- TK/K/1: 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Grades 2/3: 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
- Grades 4/5: 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
We have adjusted the times to be more accommodating to our families. During this informative evening, you will have the chance to learn about our curriculum, teaching strategies, classroom expectations, and ways to support your child's learning journey at home. It’s a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, gain insights into their classroom experiences, and ask any questions you might have.
I look forward to working with you and your child alongside our dedicated and supportive staff at Westwood. I feel extremely fortunate to join this exceptional team of educators as we all work together with you to support our students and enhance our school community. Please feel free to introduce yourself to me at any of our upcoming events or when you see me around campus—I look forward to meeting each of you!
