Welcome Back! - Mon. 1/11
We hope you all had a safe, healthy, and happy holiday break. Our teachers enjoyed welcoming in the new year via remote learning this week, but we look forward to seeing our students back in person on Monday, January 11th. Please check your inboxes for the important "Welcome Back! An informed, prepared, and safe return to AIS" message from our Head of School regarding returning to campus guidelines.

Morning Health Screening Update

Because of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases at the local, state, and national levels—and based on the recommendation of Austin Public Health—we will be slightly modifying one policy related to COVID testing. Previously, if a student was awaiting a COVID-19 test result, they were not permitted to return to campus until receiving a negative result. Starting Monday, January 11th, if any household member is awaiting a COVID-19 test result, then the child is not permitted to return to campus until a negative result is received; these absences will be considered excused. We will be updating our PikMyKid morning screening questions to reflect this change.

Through our community-wide commitment to be informed, prepared, and safe, we can keep our campus open and our students deeply engaged in their learning. Thank you in advance for your commitment to our health and safety protocols and to the well-being of all members of the entire Austin International School community.

Welcome New Families

We look forward to the addition of new and returning students to our community this semester. Please join me in making the Farthing, Sampson, Skogsbergh, Slentz, Watson, & Wright families feel welcome!

Spring Afterschool Activities

If you registered for one of our spring afterschool activities, Jhino will be in touch to confirm your details. We are finalizing lists with our teaching staff and vendors so if you missed the deadline (1/6/21), make sure to reach out to Jhino as soon as possible to inquire about openings. Spirit Night at Hat Creek - Wed., 1/13/21 5:00 - 9:00 pm

Please join us for this month's Spirit Night at Hat Creek in the Domain Northside on Wednesday, 1/13 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. Hat Creek will donate 10% of AIS back to the school. So, have a night free from cooking and enjoy a tasty burger.

If dining in or picking up to go, remember to place your receipt in the bucket by the register, for the restaurant to count the sales toward AIS.
If ordering delivery with Favor or Door Dash, type in Austin International School Spirit Night in the memo

Report Cards Disseminated - Fri., 01/15/21

Student report cards will be sent out on Friday, January 15th via email. You will receive a link to your child’s report, which will be valid for 14 days. We recommend saving a digital copy and printing a copy for your records within two weeks of receiving the link.

Gala Save the Date

If you missed the last update, based on current health conditions and community feedback, our Gala will be 100% virtual this year! Save the date for February 20, 2021, for a fantastic virtual evening of celebrations in honor of our 20th school year including a silent auction, live auction, raise the paddle, and more! Be on the lookout for special information and promotions this week!

Gala Wine Collection - 1/25 thru 1/29

As part of our gala each year, we ask our families who would like to participate to donate 1 bottle of wine for each AIS student to bundle in classroom wine packages. These amazing wine cellars will be auctioned off in our silent auction. We will begin collecting at morning drive through the week of January 25th.

Pick your favorite bottle of wine or bubbly
Sign the bottle with a sharpie to include your family name, class, and if you would like, a dedication. Ex: "Cheers! From the Johnson Family-5e"
Pass the bottle off at morning drop-off the week of 1/25 1/29
Bid away on remarkable wine cellars during our virtual gala!
Winners will be able to pick up the wine from campus the last week of January.
