News from Ms. Ricks, Principal

I hope you are having an amazing summer with your children! Our Popsicle Playdates have been a blast the past couple of days. Also, it has been fantastic welcoming our Wolman Staff back to school! Our staff have been participating in a variety of professional development and district updates, and getting their classrooms ready to welcome our Explorers back to school! I am so proud of our staff's enthusiasm and dedication as they approach our new school year! Beginning today for Prek/Kindergarten and on Friday for 1st-5th, you will receive either an introduction email or a phone call from your child's teacher welcoming your child to our Meet the Teacher event. PreK/Kinder Orientation (for parents only) will be held today at 4:00 p.m. Then on Monday, we hope to see all of our Explorers for our campus Meet the Teacher; please see the flyer below for specifics! Please have your child bring their backpack (so that we can attach their tag) as well as their school supplies. Please read below for important information regarding the start to the school year! We are very much looking forward to another fantastic year at Wolman Elementary!

Annual Student Update Required for All Current Katy ISD Students

All current Katy ISD families are required to complete the Annual Student Update for the 2024-25 school year, which can be accessed through PowerSchool. Parents can log into PowerSchool within the Home Access Center using their log-in credentials.

After logging into the Home Access Center, the Annual Student Update can be found in the “Registration” tab.

“The Annual Student Update allows parents to review and update their student’s information, including contact information, photography permissions and opt-in selections,” said Ronnie Edwards, Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Support in Katy ISD.

A current student is defined as:

A student who was enrolled in the District on or before June 28, 2024
A student who attended a Katy ISD school in the 2023-24 school year but who moved within the District’s boundary
A student who has moved from elementary school to junior high, or junior high to high school

Families of students enrolled in the District on July 26 or after will not have to complete the update process.

Please note, parents of students entering sixth grade and ninth grade will need to provide a current utility bill (i.e. water, gas, electricity) as proof of residence. The entire bill must be uploaded to PowerSchool.

Bus Information for the 2024-25 School Year

If you plan for your child to ride the bus this school year, please review the information below carefully. Please talk with your child regarding expectations for the bus. Keeping hands to self, staying seated, appropriate language and listening to the bus driver are essential to ensuring a safe and efficient time on the bus. Your child will be required to wear a tag and scan it upon entering and exiting the bus; if he/she loses this tag, parents will need to purchase a new one. You will be able to track your child's bus using the SMART app; please click on the link below for instructions on how to download. There is also a web query below that you can use to determine if your child is able to ride the bus according to your place of residence. Attention Volunteers!

Welcome back to another amazing year for our Explorers. We are so excited about the many fun activities in the works this year but we CAN NOT do it without the help of our volunteers.
