LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU SEE IT
WEEK 18
Everyone starts to reminisce around Christmas time. I myself am no different. I love to remember the Christmases I had as a kid growing up and now that my kids are grown the Christmases we had as they were growing up. I feel so blessed to have the people in my life who have influenced me and helped me along the way. I am blessed to be a part of such a special place in RCHS! I am blessed to work in a community where all are considered family. I am blessed with the staff at RCHS and all that they do for our kids. I have a lot of blessings in my life and an thankful for all of them. Thomas Kinkaid wrote

-Thomas Kinkaid
In my 32 years in education I have had to pass along a few blessings. I know this is true because of all the blessings I have received in return. This holiday season remember to give to others, love others, and express positivity to others. A little goes a long way and makes a big difference in this world. Merry Christmas everyone I hope you all have a restful break with MANY moments of JOY!!
GREATNESS FROM STAFF AND STUDENTS
TOP SPORTSMANSHIP SCHOOLS
The IHSAA released the top sportsmanship scores for all Indiana schools. Schools are scored on their sportsmanship throughout the year. Everyone starts at 100 points and if infractions occur points are deducted. The deductions come from conduct of your athletes during contests as well as the conduct of coaches and fans. Schools can also gain points by officials or other schools turning in an exemplary behavior report. Schools with 100 point or more are considered First Team by the IHSAA. Rushville High School currently stands at 108 points!!! I am very proud of the work that our Athletic Department puts in to being sure we are a top school in the area of Sportsmanship. Thank you Melissa Winkler for your leadership!!

THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE OF 1914
This an amazing story about humanity. An example of what Christmas means. An example of how we should all act each and every day!
The Christmas Truce of 1914 was a brief, unofficial ceasefire that took place during World War I, on the Western Front. It occurred around Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, when soldiers from opposing sides—mainly British and German troops—spontaneously stopped fighting and engaged in fraternization.
The truce began when German soldiers began singing Christmas carols from their trenches. British soldiers responded, and in some areas, both sides ventured into no man's land to exchange greetings, gifts, and food. They even played impromptu games of football (soccer) together.
Though the truce was not universal and did not occur everywhere along the front, it was a remarkable moment of humanity amid the brutality of war. However, higher command on both sides soon discouraged such fraternization, and the fighting resumed shortly afterward. The Christmas Truce became a symbol of shared humanity and the futility of war.
