Katherine Johnson Middle School UPDATES!
IMPORTANT: Starting Jan. 7, 2025, Katherine Johnson Middle School will serve students at its new campus location at 2641 Kent Drive, Sacramento.
To help prepare for this transition, maps of safe walking, biking and SacRT routes to school have been developed. A drop-off traffic flow map has also been developed. Please review these maps with your student determine which route will work best for your family:
Safe walking and biking routes to school (one-mile radius of new campus)
Safe biking route to school (from 1100 Howe Avenue)
Recommended SacRT routes to school (from 1100 Howe Avenue)
Translated versions of these maps will be available soon.
The campus launch and family resource fair is coming up soon! Join us in exploring the new campus on Thursday, Dec. 19. During this event, families will have an opportunity to visit students’ new classrooms, explore transportation options and even watch a rocket launch! RSVP here.

FACE December Information
FACE's upcoming December learning opportunities for families include:
Becoming a Learning Partner- 12/7 6:00-7:30 pm on Zoom
Strong home-school partnerships are essential to student learning and development. During this session, we will explore how families, as learning partners, take on the roles of supporters, monitors, and advocates. Families will share their expertise and experiences while gaining strategies to take action for their children’s success.
Family Power Hour- Open Enrollment- 12/11 5:30-6:30 pm on Zoom
Learn about Open Enrollment and school choice opportunities. Also explore services and programs provided by the Sacramento Public Library. This is also an opportunity to ask questions about other school-related topics or district programs. Presentation followed by open forum.
Perspectives in Parenting- 12/14 5:30-7:00 pm on Zoom
Parenting can be challenging! Explore information, tools and resources to help improve the parent-child relationship and provide greater understanding into the behavior and needs of children. This session focused on Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) as parenting model, presented by Kaiser Permanente.
Talleres Familiares- 12/18 5:30-7:30 pm at Grand Oaks Elementary School
Presented entirely in Spanish, this workshop for parents, guardians, and caregivers covers a range of topics such as high school graduation requirements, college and career readiness, school/community resources, and more.

The Power of Partnerships- 12/6 3:30-4:30 pm on Zoom (PL Section #55438)
Learn about the benefits of having community partnerships both on and off campus. We will dive into the important of relationship building as well as services offered by the FACE department to help along the way. Local community partners will present the services they offer and touch on next steps to initiate partnerships.

Mobile Medical Services with Elica
Mobile Medical Services with Elica is back! They will be here 1-2 times a month to support with vaccinations, school entry exams, sports physicals, and more. Attached are some translated fliers to show what services are provided and what items to bring. They will be back October 22nd, November 12th and December 3rd and 17th. You will find their large mobile health vehicle in the parking lot closest to Bell between Greer and Encina.
Drop-Off Procedures
Safety is our number one priority, especially in the morning! Please review our Drop-Off Procedures:
Do not park your car or leave your vehicle unattended in the Fire Lane!
If you would like to park your car and walk your student into school, please park in the designated parking spots. To avoid disrupting the flow of traffic, please do not park your car in the driveway. Reference the map for the driveway that designates the drop off/pick up area.
Pick-Up Procedures for 1st-5th Grades
School ends at 2:10 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Thursdays, school ends at 12:45.
To address safety and the business of the end of the day, we will not call students out for early dismissals after 2:00 (12:35 on Thursdays).
We still have students who are being picked up more than 30 minutes after dismissal. Students who are frequently picked up 30 minutes or more after dismissal will be referred to Safe Schools.
